Director of Electronics Engineering


Our clients electronics business provides safety-critical systems essential for national defense and space exploration. Due to unprecedented growth, they are seeking an accomplished individual to fill the position of Director of Electronics Engineering. This role will lead the engineering team by developing talent, technologies, and processes that enable the business to scale profitably with this growing industry.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior electronics engineering leader to make an immediate impact by providing leadership, driving strategy, and fostering a problem-solving culture in their newly renovated facility.


Responsibilities:


The Director of Electronics Engineering will be responsible for using our core values to develop the infrastructure, talent, and processes needed to support a growing electronics business.


Talent Development:

  • Develop leaders focused on nurturing strong teams and improving processes.

Executional Excellence:


  • Ensure the use of consistent, rigorous engineering processes, tools, methods, standards, and techniques.
  • Cultivate a strong team environment with a tenacious approach to risk and requirements management and design for manufacturability, test, and cost.
  • Manage key performance indicators for development process quality and delivery, using daily management to drive team performance.
  • Build a culture of robust problem solving through effective root cause analysis and countermeasures.
  • Partner with Operations and Program Management to ensure processes and talent support program execution and enable a smooth transition from engineering to production.


Strategy Deployment:


  • Develop and execute the technology and capability roadmap that supports business strategy.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Program Management, and Business Development leadership to align on customer and business objectives, ensuring team capacity and capabilities support the growing business.
  • Support business development and customer interface activities as necessary.


Requirements:


  • BS/MS in electronics, electrical, or computer engineering or physics.
  • Minimum of 15 years of project, design, or related electronics engineering experience.
  • Proven experience in leading complex electronic products through all stages of product development and into production.
  • Experience in a high mix, low volume electronics development and manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in managing, training, mentoring, and coaching leaders.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analytical skills to drive change.
  • Experience in improving engineering or manufacturing processes to enhance profit margins or lead time metrics.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a U.S Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance and be capable of working on U.S. DoD and ITAR-restricted products.
  • Experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry.


The Director of Electronics Engineering oversees Engineering Managers and Principal Engineers and is expected to be a potential successor to the Vice President of Electronics or Vice President of another function.
