Director of Distribution Centers

Our client is growing quickly and is conducting a confidential search for the role of Director of Distribution Centers.  

The role is located in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area and because this is a hands-on leadership role, the successful candidate is expected to be in the office every day.  Some travel – about 20%  - will be required to coordinate efforts with our locations in the mid-Atlantic and Western regions. 

Responsibilities include:

• Lead warehouse and distribution center operations 
• Provide leadership to distribution center managers
• Manage demand planning for 500+ SKUs in four warehouse locations
• Negotiate and manage shipping costs and ensure reconciliation of deliveries against purchase orders.
• Designs distribution center layouts to streamline storage and retrieval of inventory
• Working closely with our Quality, Procurement, Maintenance and Sales teams.  
• Manage distribution center budgets 
• Ensure the distribution centers are OSHA compliant and operate in a safe and effective manner. 
• Work with operations coworkers to develop strategic plans and reviews to achieve operational objectives
• Develop transportation schedules to ensure efficient flow of inventory

Requirements: 

• 7+ years’ experience leading distribution centers carrying annual inventory of $50+million.
• Highly skilled in demand planning over multiple SKUs and locations
• Skilled in utilizing Enterprise Resource Planning systems
• Experience implementing a Materials Requirements Planning system
• Experience scheduling inbound transportation, to include international customs clearance, ocean freight, domestic customs clearance, and domestic drayage
• Outbound freight management experience utilizing 3PLs, 4PLs, and direct carrier relationships both full truckload and LTL
• 5+ years’ experience in cycle count and inventory management
• Safety, organization, and cleanliness program implementation experience
• In depth knowledge of distribution center operations (layout, product flow, equipment needs) and requirements related to a distribution center integration (technical design/build/integration testing)
• Experience in high-volume shipments – LTL, FTL and small parcel.
