Storm4 are partnered with a fast-growing GreenTech, who provide energy storage solutions and are making significant advancements in the renewable energy sector. This company serves over 1,000 customers across the educational, commercial, industrial, utility, and municipal sectors, with more than 1,300 megawatts of operational distributed energy resources in 28 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and Canada.

They are building out their team in the US and of their key hires will be a Director of Development. This role involves identifying new greenfield opportunities independently through their network, as well as advancing early and mid-stage prospects originated by colleagues. The ideal candidate will spearhead the development of a variety of PV, BESS, and EV infrastructure projects on the west coast, east coast, or both.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise site acquisition and control diligence, fostering positive relationships with landowners, and managing associated real estate processes.
• Oversee the outsourcing and review of environmental and geotechnical studies to minimize impacts.
• Coordinate third-party engineering studies and permitting, collaborating with in-house engineering teams to validate site plans and schedules for all studies and permits.
• Guide projects through the interconnection phase, optimizing project designs in collaboration with engineers.
• Attend town hall meetings when necessary and assist partners in obtaining PILOTs and other tax exemptions/abatements.
• Track and report project progress, monitoring spending versus budget on soft costs required to prepare projects for handoff to the technical sales team.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in developing and implementing distributed energy projects in the East Coast, Mid-Atlantic, or Northeast regions (for East Coast-based candidates) and in California (for West Coast-based candidates).
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, business, real estate, finance, or a related field preferred.
• Experience with distributed and/or wholesale generation, solar energy, battery storage, EV charging, and other distributed energy technologies.
• Expertise in Renewable Energy EPC and contract negotiations to enhance operational performance and reduce costs, including direct involvement in the development and construction of renewable energy projects.
• Proven track record in leading transformative initiatives within organizations, such as introducing new technologies, restructuring, or implementing new operational processes to streamline efficiency.
