The Director of Development will be pivotal in expanding and enhancing our wind energy portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in every stage of wind project development, from identifying potential sites and conducting feasibility studies to obtaining permits, managing stakeholder relationships, and overseeing construction and commissioning. This position demands a strategic thinker with exceptional project management capabilities and a comprehensive understanding of the wind energy sector.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Create and oversee project schedules, budgets, and resources. Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure timely and within-budget project completion.
  • Permitting and Compliance: Oversee the permitting process to secure all required environmental and regulatory approvals. Work closely with regulatory agencies and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Technical Oversight: Supervise the technical elements of project development, including wind resource assessment, interconnection studies, and engineering design.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with landowners, local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders. Address concerns and negotiate agreements as necessary.
  • Risk Management: Identify and address risks associated with project development. Formulate contingency plans to tackle potential challenges.
  • Financial Analysis: Perform financial modeling and economic analysis to assess project viability. Prepare investment proposals and support project financing efforts.
  • Project Development: Lead wind energy projects from initial concept through commercial operation, including site identification, resource assessment, land acquisition, and feasibility studies.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on project progress, financial performance, and significant milestones.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, business, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in wind energy project development, with a successful track record of guiding projects from inception to commercial operation.
  • Extensive knowledge of the wind energy industry, including market trends, regulatory frameworks, and technological advancements.
  • Strong project management skills with experience handling large, complex projects.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, capable of building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and economic analysis related to energy projects.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to project sites and stakeholder meetings.
