Job Purpose
The Director for Curriculum and Assessment directs the implementation of an assessment program for the College of Dentistry, which supports the accreditation process. Collects and interprets data in support of assessment program. In individual in this position will lead and develop a comprehensive assessment program to support the college's mission and strategic initiatives. They will design, direct, and support academic and administrative program reviews and related activities that demonstrate institutional effectiveness. Coordinates with the campus Office of Institutional Research and Assessment for the purpose of assessment reporting.
The Director Of Qualifications
The candidate must have leadership experience with managing assessment for accreditation for a college or university, preferably dental or medical professional education
The candidate should have experiential knowledge in competency-based education
The candidate must be familiar with educational outcomes assessment, analysis of outcomes data, superb writing and communication skills, experience
Nature And Scope
Internal contacts include administrators, faculty, students, and staff within The College of Dentistry and University. External contacts include government agencies, corporations, foundations, vendors, other colleges and universities, visitors, and the public.
Principle Accountabilities
Monitors student progress, curriculum review, program self-study, accreditation preparation, and continuous quality improvement functions.
Responsible for the development and maintenance of a comprehensive outcomes assessment program that supports the vision, mission, and goals of the School of Dentistry, and ensures continued compliance with the standards of the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) for the predoctoral and postdoctoral dental education programs.
Specific responsibilities include collection and maintenance of data sets that support academic and institutional outcomes analysis and planning to include:
Master’s or terminal degree in Higher Education, Assessment, Educational Research, Educational Leadership or a related discipline, or a minimum of 3 years of related administrative experience in higher education and/or professional educational organizations.
Advanced knowledge of best practices for academic assessment.
Significant experience in college, university or similar level, accreditation, and advanced knowledge and experience with accreditation processes.
Compliance Salary Range Disclosure
Expected Pay Range: $77,273 - $85,000

- hands-on data collection and analysis,
- translation of data into usable information, to support program improvements, curriculum management and preparation of reports and self-study.
- Harness assessment data to identify opportunities to improve program performance and achieve goals.
- Reports to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for the duties related to accreditation and outcomes assessment.
- Develop and implement methods and procedures to administer assessment program.
- Assists with the organization, development, and maintenance of institutional effectiveness in support of the assessment program.
- Develop training materials and trains faculty and staff in assessment evaluations and measurements.
- Evaluate learning objectives and develop measurement instruments to analyze outcomes.
- Act as an administrator for Examsoft, collecting, assessing, and analyzing data generated from student assessments to compare with clinical performance outcomes.
- Develop statistical models to measure impact of learning support services on student achievement of intended learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with departments to collect assessment data.
- Analyze assessment data using research methodologies and applicable software applications.
- Develop survey instruments and analyzes survey results.
- Prepare and disseminate reports of data and analysis.
- Develop item analysis reports as necessary to help faculty evaluate the effectiveness of tests and test items.
- Implement technological solutions to streamline assessment processes and improve assessment efficiency.
- Prepares written reports, presentations, dashboards/infographics and other data visualizations for survey and assessment research findings for departments, faculty, and campus leadership.
- Help conduct focus groups with students and or faculty and staff to get insight into practices that work and those that do not.
- Stay abreast of current academic trends and policies regarding curricular and programmatic assessment and implementing effective assessment techniques at the college.
- Participate as an ex-officio member of identified committees.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Provide leadership and support for assessment of the College’s Strategic Plan.
