Position Overview:

This Director of Credit, Institutional Group will lead and inspire our Private Client Operations underwriting team, reporting to the VP of Operations. Your role will focus on managing a team of highly skilled underwriters, performing high-level credit analysis for significant portfolio loans, and providing strategic direction on complex commercial real estate transactions. You will ensure the highest standards of credit quality, oversee production and performance, and actively engage in credit committee discussions.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Credit Leadership: Develop and implement credit strategies that align with organizational goals, ensuring robust risk management and credit quality
  • Credit Analysis & Approval: Conduct high-level reviews and authorize loans ranging from $5M - $20M, and fully underwrite loans exceeding $10M for credit committee approval.
  • Credit Committee Leadership: Present and attend credit committee meetings to discuss deal-related issues, and address potential guideline gaps to ensure informed decision-making. Risk Assessment: Oversee the evaluation of various properties and borrower investments to identify potential risks, understand experience level and performance, ensuring thorough due diligence and informed decision-making.
  • Credit Summaries: Create detailed credit summary reports that consolidate loan applications and analyses, offering a comprehensive evaluation of loans, properties, and borrowers to be submitted to Capital Partners.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Manage and mentor the credit underwriting team, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring their development aligns with organizational goals.
  • Post-Closing Management: Manage post-closing credit deficiencies, ensuring minimal errors and preventing unsalable loans
  • Productivity & Turnaround: Ensure productivity levels and turnaround times meet management expectations, prioritizing underwriting, credit reviews, and team oversight to meet various deadlines


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and/or related field. Advanced degree preferred
  • Extensive experience in credit analysis and underwriting within the real estate investment industry, with a proven track record in a leadership role.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to inspire and achieve business goals
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, written & verbal, to effectively collaborate with senior leadership and staff at all levels.
  • Excellent business relationship management skills, with the ability to anticipate and meet the needs of business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to develop and inspire a high-performing team.
