Director of Community Engagement

Moorings Park is looking for a Director of Community Engagement . The Director of Community Engagement is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing a vibrant and engaging campus life program for residents of the Moorings Park senior living community. This includes overseeing social, recreational, cultural, educational, and wellness activities to promote successful aging. The Director of Community Engagement works closely with residents, staff, and external partners to ensure a high-quality experience that meets the diverse needs and interests of the community’s residents. All Campus Life programming must operate in accordance with Moorings Park’s policies and procedures and fulfill the organization’s contractual obligation to residents.

Contributions

  • Creates programs that positively impact holistic wellness and community connection, reaching each resident at the level they are comfortable with, by deepening relationships.
  • Promotes physical, social, intellectual, and emotional well-being by designing, planning, and implementing a diverse range of activities and events tailored to meet the interests and abilities of residents.
  • Fosters a positive working environment for the Moorings Park team, residents, vendors, and contractors.
  • Leads by example, raising morale, initiating programs, providing ideas, and actively contributing in a positive manner.
  • Builds strong relationships with residents to understand their needs and preferences, encouraging their participation in activities and soliciting feedback to continuously improve programs.
  • Coordinates with resident committees and groups to involve them in the planning and execution of events, ensuring a collaborative and inclusive approach.
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with individuals and groups within the organization, throughout the community, and with partners and stakeholders. Has a creative and innovative approach, coupled with strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to conceptualize and implement alternative solutions.
  • Develops and manages the Campus Life department budget. Tracks expenditures, addresses invoices, and ensures all programs are cost-effective and within budget.
  • Ensures the creation and upkeep of self-sustaining management control systems for all facets of life care programs. This includes overseeing activities, managing independent contractors, and coordinating volunteer programs, ensuring a comprehensive and seamless support for the community.
  • Supervises and supports the Activity Assistant to ensure the fulfillment of all duties and roles, staying within project budget and creating enriching program opportunities.
  • Takes a proactive approach to listen to staff and resident feedback, appropriately responding to concerns, and utilizing resources for the best solution.
  • Shows professional knowledge, proficiency and initiative in achieving goals and meeting standards. Sets and develops strategic direction and long-term economic plans for the department and the organization.
  • Ensures the development and implementation of systems and processes to assure effective operations of the department.

Job Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language required.
  • A minimum of 4 years college or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in directing an activity/recreation program for active adults.
  • Experience in communication methods such as community newsletters, and email blasts required.
  • Experience in graphic design websites or creating activities calendars required.
  • During emergencies or natural disasters may be required to be on duty for the duration of the disaster.
