Summary
We are seeking an experienced, visionary, hands on Director of Cloud Operations and Architecture to lead our cloud strategy, operations, and architecture. This role is pivotal in driving our cloud initiatives,
ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of our cloud infrastructure, and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Position will work closely with Development to ensure platform and product are aligned and highly efficient.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute the cloud strategy aligned with business goals.
• Lead the design, implementation, and management of scalable, secure, and resilient cloud architectures.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to align cloud initiatives with business priorities and objectives.
• Support and contribute to RFP responses and initiatives to address customer, market and/or business needs.
• Collaborate with Security team and IT team to implement and improve security posture and implementation.
• Oversee daily operations of the cloud infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
• Implement and manage cloud monitoring, maintenance, and support processes.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices, SOC 2 and FedRAMP Moderate requirements and monitoring.
• Manage and execute deployment pipelines, including approvals, for UAT and Production accounts.
• Manage and participate in on-call rotations, providing high-quality support with a focus on minimizing impact and preventing recurrence of issues.
• Lead the architecture team in designing robust cloud solutions that meet current and future business needs.
• Define, implement and enforce architectural standards, guidelines, and best practices.
• Develop and maintain scalable, secure and robust infrastructure (IaC) using the AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) and Kubernetes. Maintain IaC solution that in addition to the CDK uses AWS CLI, AWS SDK, and typescript as a coding language. Includes development and use of ConfigMaps, AWS Secrets Manager, Storage, ArgoCD and AWS Networking
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment and ensure consistent, reliable software release processes.
• Work closely with development teams to design and implement scalable applications in a cloud environment.
• Implement and enforce SOC 2, FedRAMP Moderate and other client's security policies and practices to protect cloud assets.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address potential vulnerabilities.
• Ensure disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place and tested regularly.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in IT with at least 5 years in cloud operations and architecture.
• 5+ years of experience with IaC
• 5+ years experience with Kubernetes
• Preference given to individual with a coding background.
• Proven experience with AWS commercial cloud and GovCloud.
• Strong understanding of cloud security principles, best practices, and technologies.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
