The Director of Clinical Services provides leadership and direction for the execution of clinical services and goals that align with HOMELINK’s mission and strategic plan. In this role, you will establish appropriate levels of care, and provide strategic direction and oversight to all clinical services. Planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating outcomes of clinical services and strategic plans are key responsibilities of the Director of Clinical Services.
Reports to: Senior Vice President (SVP) of Operations within VGM HOMELINK
Working Location: Waterloo, IA or surrounding area preferred – hybrid or remote opportunities possible (if remote, on-site work is expected at least monthly)
Key Responsibilities/Duties
Provide direction for clinical services, including development of department goals to help ensure excellence in service delivery
Develop, update, improve, implement, and report on clinical processes
Champion high standards of patient care by implementing strategies and plans aligned with strategic goals and advising personnel on clinical service matters
Research, implement, review, and advise all aspects of clinical care and case management to align with evidence-based best practices, and comply with all applicable legal, ethical, and regulatory standards
Meet with Clinical Team’s leaders and staff on a regular basis
Provide guidance to Senior Leadership and Management for all HOMELINK clinical and non-clinical service offerings
Present and/or attend outside meetings and conferences on behalf of the company with outside stakeholders, customers, and prospective customers
Collaborate with HOMELINK's Quality Management team to monitor quality of clinical teams
Assist with responding to Requests for Proposal (RFP) opportunities
Organize and conduct 3-5 clinical-related internal educational sessions a year
Respond and take appropriate action to client, provider, and patient complaints
Integrate and maintain standard policies and procedures leading towards accomplishment of the HOMELINK’s Mission
Attend management and standing committee meetings, and participates in projects as assigned
Oversee and develop the clinical services team by providing recognition and motivation of the department’s management and staff while also performing personnel management
Create a solid base of clinical leadership (i.e., knowledge, skills, and abilities) preparing staff for future and progressive management roles
Additional duties as assigned by HOMELINK senior leadership
Position Qualifications
Experience / Education
A Master of Physical Therapy, Master of Science in Physical Therapy, or Doctor of Physical Therapy (PT) strongly preferred
Proven experience working as a physical therapist strongly preferred
Minimum of five years of successful management experience in a health care related business preferred
Minimum of five years of managed care experience in medical management activities, including Utilization Management, Case Management, and/or Quality Improvement preferred
Managed Medicaid/Medicare experience preferred
Compliance with continuing education per Company, regulatory, contractual, and accreditation requirements
Skills and Competencies
Ability to work closely with physicians and other health care professionals, hospitals, post-acute facilities (e.g., home health agencies, etc.), and durable medical equipment providers
Current knowledge of utilization management, quality improvement, and care coordination processes
Advanced analytical skills to organize, plan, and coordinate clinical services
Strong interpersonal skills to interact with a wide variety of individuals, and handle delicate, sensitive, and/or complex and confidential situations
Comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment
Ability to think tactically and identify significant success factors
Demonstrated ability to lead, delegate, communicate, problem solve, and work effectively with people
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Works collaboratively with management and staff
Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and regulations
Skilled at establishing and maintaining positive and effective work relationships with staff, providers, clients, and patients
Proficient in the use of computer (Microsoft Office Products) and business software programs
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Maintains confidentiality and complies with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)

Visual abilities to include reading, distance vision, and peripheral vision
Regular overnight travel is necessary to engage outside stakeholders, customers, and prospective customers and be a representative of HOMELINK at industry events, etc.
