We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Business Development to join our team. This individual will serve as a key member of the BD team and will manage projects within the preclinical/development therapeutics areas of Virology and Immune-Oncology.


The ideal candidate has end-to-end deal experience and is a strategic individual with intuitive intelligence and an entrepreneurial spirit, adept at building relationships with external and internal stakeholders to achieve company objectives.



Job Responsibilities:


  • Lead the end-to-end deal life cycle for a fast life science startup, from initial relationship building to final contract execution
  • Support senior management in investor and external partner relationships, ensuring regular and efficient communication with key stakeholders.
  • Foster partner interactions, understanding the needs of the audiences, and generating materials to engage different stakeholders.
  • Identify attractive investment areas by analyzing unmet medical needs and opportunities and networking with leading industry executives, academics, entrepreneurs, and other venture professionals.
  • Perform scientific and business due diligence with consultants, key opinion leaders, and clinicians related to specific portfolio companies or investment opportunities.
  • Prepare proposals and negotiations aligning internal stakeholders and manage the deal lifecycle to secure partnerships and contracts.
  • Translate research and analysis into actionable business insights to inform disease area strategies and priorities and identify areas for investment.
  • Enable corporate strategic planning, positioning, and portfolio optimization by providing required input and assessments.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, including R&D and operations, to align business strategies and ensure successful initiative implementation.



Education and Experience:


  • Advanced degree (PhD, MD, JD, or MBA) in a relevant discipline.
  • 8-10 years of experience in a high-performance biotech start-up or private pharma company in a business & corporate development role
  • In-depth understanding of the biotech industry, including small molecule drug discovery and development paradigms, market dynamics, emerging trends, and regulatory requirements
  • Strong track record of successfully identifying, negotiating, executing and closing strategic partnerships, collaborations, and corporate transactions.
  • Experience in private/public financings, strategic partnering and leading R&D operations
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting business development and due diligence, including market sizing, forecasting, execution of market research, data analytics, and creation of buy-side or sell-side reports and business cases.
  • Experience working in dynamic, productive, cross-functional, cross-matrix environments. Global and international experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to outline a problem, define strategy, develop project goals, and drive strategic and corporate outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
