Way of Work: Hybrid - 2 days on location

Salary Range: $181,100 - $271,800, plus annual bonus

Location: Columbus, OH or Merrillville, IN

The Director Aviation is accountable for the safe operation of the Aviation Department and for meeting safety management, efficiency, budgetary and performance goals. The Director will be responsible for the development and enforcement of company policies and for ensuring compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations governing flight and maintenance activities.


Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:


  • Leads diverse team of qualified individuals with authority to hire, terminate, promote, demote, coach, develop and performance manage
  • Develops, controls and maintains operational standards of all aircraft operated and operations manuals of same
  • Creates quality initiatives that support competency of resources, safe environment, regulatory expectations and a reduction of risks with unique plans for all areas of flight and maintenance
  • Coordinates with applicable regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with them on all matters concerning flight operations
  • Oversees & manages annual aviation department budget
  • Manages functions which have an impact on operational control e.g. maintenance, crew scheduling, load control, equipment scheduling
  • Oversees the development & implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS)
  • Develop manpower plans based on objective data; initiate standardization of safe, staffing plans; minimize risk management vulnerabilities
  • Ensures that flight operations are conducted in accordance with national and international regulations, standards, and company policy
  • Receives and takes appropriate action with respect to aeronautical information adversely affecting the safety of flight
  • Oversees maintaining a current operations library
  • Reports any unsafe condition or personnel action to the designated Safety Officer or designee


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.


Minimum Qualifications


  • College Degree
  • 5+ years of leadership in an aviation department
  • Project management abilities, including project plans, dependencies, budgets, and deliverables within scope and on time
  • Maintains a high degree of crew coordination, performing duties in a professional, efficient, and cordial manner at all times
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards relating to aircraft operations
  • Knowledge of the planning, implementation, and direction of operations and maintenance programs for the aircraft operated
  • Strong organizational skills and advanced multi-tasking abilities


Preferred Qualifications


  • Challenger 300/350 type rating and experience
  • 5,000 total hours of flight time
  • 3,000 hours of flight time as the Pilot in Command
  • Familiarity with fixed-wing, rotor and drone operations
  • Project management experience
  • Commercial Pilot License Upon Hire
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician Upon Hire
