Emerald is seeking a leader with experience in developing and delivering top quality SaaS software products. The role is accountable for the development of product features and the technical support services for our homegrown B2B ecommerce solution. The Director of Application Development will be primarily responsible for managing the development team, successful and timely delivery of product enhancements, bug fixes and technical support services.

 

The Director of Application Development will work as a key leader of an exceptionally talented team, to deliver top quality innovative solutions on a massive scale. We are looking for an independent thinker who makes convincing, evidence-based decisions. You will be an evangelist for repeatable processes and automation to safeguard our customer experience as well as increase efficiency of our applications and team. You will drive the delivery of product’s roadmap for your teams and provide leadership that creates an environment of innovation, ownership, delivering with quality, as well as fostering a culture of inclusion and knowledge sharing.



This position can be performed remotely, however preference given to candidates within commutable distance to our Denver, CO office.

 

  • Drive the architecture and lead development of software using best practices
  • Collaborate with various cross functional teams & stakeholders to ensure successful & timely delivery of prioritized product features and bug fixes.
  • Manage our multi-region development and DevOps teams
  • Work with agile project managers in ensuring agile development practices are consistently followed across various development teams. Developing and continuously improving our SaaS client delivery capabilities
  • Present recommendations in an easily understandable format to business teams for solution options and implementations based on client requirements and in consultation with internal technical SMEs and engineers
  • Incident handling (managing all logged and escalated incidents whilst ensuring the delivery of an efficient service within agreed response times and SLA’s)
  • Providing pertinent support data and information (metrics, KPIs, feedback, etc.) throughout the organization through a variety of communication channels as necessary
  • Ensuring all team members stay current on new information related to product features and procedure
  • Handling/resolving escalations from frontline team members and responding in a timely manner
  • Hiring and training new team members
  • Delivering monthly performance evaluations
  • Onboard and train offshore and onshore contractors on product functionality and development processes

 

  • 10+ years of software development experience building web applications
  • 3+ years of experience of managing software development team
  • Has proven experience leading DevOps teams
  • A track record of leading teams with a history of delivering high-quality products and services
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to tailor communication for an audience ranging from engineers on the team to the executive leadership team
  • An excellent grasp on developing SaaS solutions
  • High attention to detail and are always seeking out ways to improve
  • Have excellent, proven problem-solving skills, but are aware of when something is over your head and are not afraid to ask for help
  • Experience in collaborating with peers and forming agreements across teams
  • Comfortable with web-based customer-facing platforms and not intimidated by technology
  • Highly organized and have the ability and desire to learn new technologies
  • Have incredible perseverance and drive, manifested in a strong work ethic and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and do whatever needs to be done.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Target Compensation: $140,000-$160,000 (Bonus Eligible)

Please note that this range reflects a reasonable estimate of the target compensation for this position. This range may ultimately vary based on a candidate’s qualifications and may be higher where required by applicable law.
