Director of Annual Fund and Donor Relations

The Director of Annual Fund will not only play a pivotal role in shaping Wellnest's fundraising strategy but also have a unique opportunity for personal growth and development. This includes building a year-round fundraising plan and cultivating long-term relationships based on a deep understanding of donor interests, passions, and values. As the primary relationship manager for individual donors, the Director will be instrumental in helping Wellnest reach or exceed its annual funding goals.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manages and executes all aspects of Wellnest’s annual fund campaign to meet the annual fund financial goal.
  • Consults with the VP of Advancement & External Affairs to strategize annual campaign fundraising efforts and set annual development goals.
  • Creates and manages multi-channel fundraising efforts (print, digital, phone, and social media) that support donor retention, renewal, and acquisition of Annual Fund donors
  • Identifies, engages, solicits, and stewards annual giving donors and prospects, with agreed-upon targeted yearly goals; may travel to visit prospective and current annual giving donors
  • Tracks results of solicitations, compiling data, and assisting with analysis to measure progress towards organizational goals
  • Provide stewardship and foster relationships among various constituencies to increase both volunteer participation and financial support.
  • Acts as a spokesperson for the organization as needed to bring in funding, volunteers, and ambassadors.
  • Builds and schedules fundraising emails in Constant Contact
  • Stays current on annual giving best practices and maximizes the use of data and other resources to make strategic recommendations and implementations
  • Participates in regular prospect strategy and portfolio review sessions
  • Assesses Annual Fund donors’ giving history and philanthropic capacity to create and build a pipeline between annual, major and planned giving
  • Prepare necessary reports for the VP of Advancement & External Affairs and President & CEO for strategizing, goal setting, and board meetings.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities to hone skills
  • Researches current and prospective donors and compiles briefings for self and leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Minimum one year of experience in fundraising or related field, preferably with a background in fundraising, government affairs, social services, or other nonprofit organization.

Certificates, Licenses And Registrations

  • Must possess and maintain a valid CA driver’s license and insurable driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • A strong commitment to advancing Wellnest’s mission.
  • Knowledge of effective private fundraising techniques and practices, including annual fund, solicitation techniques, and planned giving programs.
  • Proven success in strategic planning and execution of major gifts campaigns.
  • Demonstrated project management experience with the ability to efficiently meet competing deadlines.
  • Exemplify superior organizational skills and an ability to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Superior communication skills that are rooted in accurately and effectively conveying information, specifically regarding Wellnest’s donor projects and goals.
  • Strong public speaking skills, and the ability to communicate ideas with enthusiasm to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to work independently and well under pressure.
  • Ability to solve problems while exercising sound judgment and discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and cultivate relationships to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment independently when responding to inquiries and interacting with donors, volunteers, staff, and vendors.
  • Skilled in engaging and working with diverse individuals and groups to accomplish established goals.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of ethical and professional standards in accordance with agency and community policy
  • Must be comfortable with ambiguity and able to respond adeptly to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Database management and advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, Adobe InDesign/Photoshop/Acrobat, and/or Constant Contact. Ability to adapt to new technology systems and applications, including fundraising platforms.

Compensation And Benefits

  • Annual Salary Range: $90,000 to $110,000
