Summary

The Department of Pediatrics seeks a clinical neuroscientist to be the Director of Advanced Neurodiagnostics and Neuro-Innovation to support our growing clinical neuroscience program. The rank and appointment will be determined by the candidate's credentials and experience.

This position will be tasked with developing and running a magnetoencephalography (MEG) laboratory - which will support the comprehensive epilepsy program. This includes supervising patient scans; reviewing the MEG data; co-registering the epileptiform dipoles and functional dipoles on MRI and fully participating in epilepsy conferences and care management plans.

In addition, the neuroscientist would be responsible for deploying advanced digital localization software programs (i.e. Curry or similar) in conjunction with intracranial monitoring cases (i.e. stereotactic EEG and grid EEG) and participate as a member of the epilepsy team in both pre-surgical and surgical cases (i.e. Phase I and II).

Job Duties

The neuroscientist will be tasked with the role of research champion within neurosciences (e.g. Neurology, Neurosurgery and PM&R). This includes keeping an up-to-date record of all ongoing clinical research studies/trials within neurosciences, assisting investigators in developing and deploying their study proposals and coordinating with the Research Office at Christus Children's.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. degree (neuroscience, psychology, neuropsychology, clinical neurophysiology, biomedical engineering, or computational sciences preferred).
  • Training and experience in running/operating a magnetoencephalography system; neuro-navigated transcranial magnetic stimulation system; electroencephalography and advanced digital signal localization software (eg. Curry, BESA, etc.) strongly preferred.
  • A track record of translational clinical research, study management, and program development is also preferred.
