The Director of Admissions is responsible for directing and overseeing the Admissions Department, which includes ensuring compliance of local and state regulations regarding admissions of patients and overseeing the screening of appropriate level of care for potential admissions. This position is responsible for achieving admissions operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to functional strategic plans and reviews; implementing productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; and implementing change.

  • The Admission Director is primarily responsible for supervising, training, and motivating team members within the registration/admitting team.
  • Supervise complex multi-payer insurance verification and benefits eligibility
  • Trains and coaches the Admitting staff
  • Monitors activity for quality and productivity
  • Analyzes, develops and produces agent feedback and management reports
  • Conducts quality audits
  • Ensures sufficient staffing levels for twenty-four/seven operations
  • Accurately maintains list of open bed status and waiting list. Design, establish and maintain procedures and policies to assure high bed occupancy and to control bed availability and client traffic.
  • Project the assignment of patients to teams to utilize beds in accordance with Hospital goals and provide continuity of care.

Requirements:

  • A.A. Degree or 7 years of relevant work experience
  • 3 years of Management experience in a Hospital or Healthcare setting
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting involving customer service and have been involved in the registration and admission functions
  • Basic working knowledge of payer’s billing and collection process
  • Technical competence and demonstrated proficiency with medical insurance plans, billing regulations and managed care plans, applicable to inpatient care
  • Familiar with multiple payer’s insurance verification and pre-certification guidelines
