Overview:

United Gaming is currently looking to hire a Director of Accounting to work in the Atlanta, Georgia office. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to lead our accounting department. This role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and integrity in financial data and reporting. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounting leadership, strong technical accounting skills, and a proactive approach to process improvement and team development.

This leader will take a hands-on approach in partnering with the business to drive the right decisions through actionable insights and analyses. The successful candidate must be ready to roll up their sleeves and dive into the data, systems, and models, while growing and developing a team to ensure a consistent approach corporate finance and accounting is taken across the organization.

A hands-on yet strategic leader who can oversee the tools and processes to help us scale for the future. He/she will also bring a strong analytical toolset, and proven experience managing the planning activities of a large, complex company.

This is a highly influential role will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and requires a deep passion for operational efficiency and business.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced senior leader and a potential successor to the Chief Financial Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
  • Revenue Recognition: Ensure accurate and compliant revenue recognition practices in accordance with ASC 606 and other relevant accounting standards
  • Accounting Operations: Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll, ensuring timely and accurate recording of financial transactions
  • Compliance and Controls: Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards, regulations, and internal controls, implementing and maintaining effective accounting policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate financial risks
  • Audit Management: Coordinate and manage external audits and reviews, liaising with auditors and providing necessary documentation and support to facilitate the audit process, ensuring timely completion and resolution of audit issues
  • Tax Planning and Compliance: Collaborate with tax advisors and internal stakeholders to develop tax strategies, optimize tax efficiencies, and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency, and enhance controls, implementing best practices and automation solutions to drive operational excellence
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to enhance team performance and capabilities
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, including finance, operations, and legal departments, to support business initiatives and achieve organizational goals

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Experience dealing with complex accounting matters, including some combination of public accounting and corporate experience
  • Experience managing teams and the development, administration, and efficacy of Financial Systems
  • Deep expertise in complex technical accounting matters. Thorough understanding of GAAP, financial accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience keeping the CFO and executive team apprised of the accounting policy landscape including existing and new/evolving GAAP
  • Experience providing support in strategic M&A transactions
  • Ability to understand key operational business drivers and possession of broad knowledge across a range of finance and accounting functions
  • Operational experience and responsibility for core transactional accounting and process areas
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems. Experience with NetSuite preferred
