Job Description

Well respected and growing non-profit has an opening for The Director of Accounting. The successful candidate will be responsible for aligning financial policies, procedures, and systems with the organization's objectives. Directs and manages company fiscal information Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (GAAS) as well as manages the Accounting Office staff and administrative functions.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Oversee and lead a team of staff
  • Operate a computer, navigate software programs and technologies to access information and documents (ACC specific and County required platforms, virtual platforms, Microsoft office).
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Capable of critical thinking, and applying sound judgment.
  • Full-time on-site attendance required; ability to travel to all designated locations as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Must have Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of ten (10) year’s in accounting office experience preferably in non-profit accounting.
  • Must have experience in preparing financial statements, payroll, bookkeeping, cash flow, tax, and budgets.
  • Must be efficient with computers, accounting software and have extensive Excel knowledge.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Arabic or Chaldean preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Align financial policies, procedures, and systems with the organization's objectives.
  • Establish financial reporting systems and controls to ensure compliance with company expenditure requirements and meet customer needs.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate budget analysis and financial review for the management team.
  • Ensure all reporting is accurate and submitted to the funding sources by the due dates of each month.
  • Review and analyze the accounting system, procedures and activities to assure compliance with the laws and regulations of the funding sources.
  • Manage the Cash Flow to maintain proper liquidity and reduce dependency on the Line of Credit.
  • Prepare monthly budget v/s actual comparisons of the budgets and total expenses.
  • Verify all expenditures.
  • Ensure property, payroll, withholding and any and all other taxes are paid in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure all tax forms are filed by the respective deadlines with complete accuracy.
  • Oversee all financial audits.
  • Reconciles the Payroll Bank Account.
  • Control petty cash.
  • Must be able to perform any function in the accounting office.
  • Present a financial report to the Board of Directors at each Board meeting.
  • Provides strategic financial leadership
