About The Role

Seaport Entertainment is looking for a Director of Accounting for our rapidly growing company. Reporting to the VP, Accounting they will oversee the accounting function with a focus on the Hospitality, Entertainment and Landlord segments of the company. The Director of Accounting must thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic working environment, have a knack for problem solving, and enjoy team management. This position will be responsible for the month end process for several assets across the Hospitality, Entertainment and Landlord segments, collaborating with 3rd parties and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting, in accordance with GAAP.

What You Will Do

  • Lead day to day accounting operations of the Seaport business including overseeing the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Manage the monthly and quarterly accounting close process for sponsorships, concerts and events, property accounting, and developments.
  • Review monthly financial statements to ensure compliance with GAAP and the company’s accounting policy and present them to the executive team.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve variances in a timely manner to ensure accuracy of ledger.
  • Manage 3rd party relationships, ensuring accurate reporting in compliance with GAAP.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and provide feedback to team members.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure proper accounting treatment for complex transactions.
  • Monitor compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support annual budget process in cooperation with finance team and other departments.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize financial systems, tools, and workflows.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field, preferably in the real estate industry; CPA certification preferred.
  • 5+ years proven experience in a senior-level accounting or finance role, with progressively increasing responsibilities.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in supporting accounting close process
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
  • Must be deadline focused and exhibit problem solving skills
  • Handle dynamic work environment with competing priorities
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Proficiency in accounting software (MS Dynamics) is a plus and advanced MS Excel skills

Compensation: $150 - 180K plus benefits
