Director of Accounting

The Accounting Director is responsible for overseeing and leading GL accounting functions, including day-to-day financial accounting related to the Company’s various domestic and international operations. They are to challenge existing paradigms and be a change leader. This role is highly visible and requires strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills. The Accounting Director will build a high performing team with strong employee engagement, and work cross-functionally with other departments to increase financial reporting accuracy, be the champion for the improvement and maintenance of internal control policies and operating procedures, new systems, and will work closely with an outsourced tax function. Key Responsibilities

Provide leadership to month end close process for multiple locations with a focus on accuracy as well as efficiency and continuous improvement. Review, approve, and drive improvements in balance sheet reconciliations and ownership for balance sheet consolidation, analysis, and reporting. Foster and advance a strong compliance environment in accord with industry best practices, adhering to GAAP and corporate policies. Provide leadership to and support annual audit. Improve and simplify standard work and policy documentation. Initiate regular communication company-wide on compliance procedures, risks, and opportunities. Direct ongoing company-wide training requirements and lead internal audits for higher risk areas. Coordinate periodic balance sheet reviews for different entities. Coordinate outsourced tax function, working closely with third party providers, providing necessary information on time in support of period returns, analysis of short- & long-term business decisions, and reduction in taxes and cost of the function. Working through others provide leadership to improve working capital results and reducing bad debt expense. Improve and maintain efficient treasury operations. Serve as the functional ERP implementation team lead, coordinating with peers and direct reports execution of action plan. Partner with others in rollout of new accounting and financial systems, processes, and technology. Lead, delegate, or assist with other assigned duties including serving as the primary insurance point of contact, supporting valuation processes, and participating in M&A diligence and integration work as needed. Background and Skill Bachelor’s degree in accounting required. CPA preferred. Strong understanding and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required. Working knowledge of tax compliance a plus. Public accounting background with additional operational experience ideally gained through increasingly responsible management positions. 10 years total experience minimum. Involvement in an ERP conversion project a plus Manufacturing and lean experience a plus Private Equity experience a plus Has worked in a KPI/Metric driven environment Advanced Excel skills required.
