Position Summary

The Director, Medical Affairs Insights, will work with cross Therapeutic Area key stakeholders, including Medical Affairs (MSL [Medical Science Liaison] teams, Medical Directors, Medical Information, etc.) and Commercial counterparts, to collect, analyze and communicate emerging medical insights that may have an impact on the Organization’s and/or Medical Affairs strategic approaches, tactics and priorities. They will be responsible for identifying channels of insight collection, and utilization of insights to adapt current tactics. The Director, Medical Affairs Insights, will lead this new core capability of Medical Affairs.

This position will report to the Head of USMA Integrated Medical Capabilities and be part of the Medical Review and Insights Community.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation of the Medical Affairs Insights Operating Model and infrastructure, including definitions, objectives, process, systems, and capabilities
  • Identify and lead a Medical Affairs Insights Committee to regularly review and utilize insights to adapt tactics throughout the year
  • Collaborate and communicate strongly with Commercial Insights group on regular cadence to ensure emerging insights from Medical Affairs is collated as part of overall organizational insights
  • Create a feedback loop between those working at the external stakeholder interface and those setting strategy, to generate actionable insights and ensure streamlined insights-related activities
  • Participate in internal meetings to remain current on relevant Brand, Medical Affairs and overall Company strategy
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional groups to cultivate a positive relationship
  • Maintain scientific knowledge, including labeling, associated therapeutic areas, relevant literature, treatment guidelines and competitor information, through ongoing internal and external data sources (e.g., training, conferences)


Skills And Competencies

  • Direct experience and knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data sources that may lead to actionable insights
  • Capable of applying both analytic and synthetic methods to identify any major data or temporal trends in generated insights
  • Able to work effectively with niche external providers of data and/or technology
  • Familiar with the reporting, utilization, and feedback process
  • Detail-oriented and ability to manage various projects, solve problems, deliver on commitments and work with multidisciplinary teams
  • Must be a strong team player/ demonstrates flexibility and a positive attitude


Requirements

  • Advanced scientific degree preferable (PharmD/MD/PhD) with Academic training in Data Science
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical or agency setting supporting Medical Affairs
  • Direct experience with the medical insight generation process and function-related process specifics (+3 years)
  • Prior experience as an MSL or Medical Director strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in Neurology or Rare Disease preferred
  • Strong scientific/medical written and verbal communication skills required
