COMPENSATION: $70,000 - $74,000 per year, paid bi-weekly

Program

Depaul USA’s Macon program includes a day resource center, medical respite, health clinic, and housing program that provides services to individuals facing the immediate crisis of homelessness. We provide a welcoming place where individuals can get a hot meal, relax, shower, do laundry, obtain medical care, attend classes, and speak with case managers.

Position Description

The Macon Director is responsible for leading and managing a day center, housing program, medical respite, and a health clinic for homeless individuals in a manner consistent with the organization’s values. The goals of all Macon programs are to meet the immediate needs of individuals facing the crisis of homelessness; assist individuals to access the resources and services necessary to move towards more stable housing and community integration; and identify ways to prevent individuals from becoming homeless.

Essential Functions

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in the development of strategic objectives and vision for all Depaul USA programs in Macon; communicate this vision to public, staff, and stakeholders. Liaise with local city officials, funders, and community groups to strengthen services for homeless and disadvantaged people in Macon.
  • Manage all aspects of the Daybreak Day Center, respite, health clinic, and housing program. In cooperation with the Assistant Director and Respite Manager, create and maintain systems, procedures, and processes for the delivery of services at all Macon programs.
  • Work with local medical systems to identify gaps in services with a focus on improving outcomes for respite residents.
  • In cooperation with the Assistant Director and Respite Manager and Volunteer Coordinator, create and maintain systems, procedures and processes for the recruitment, management, and deployment of Macon staff and volunteers. Directly manage and supervise all staff, volunteers, and agencies that provide services at the day resource center and respite.
  • Develop a base of non-governmental funding from the city’s business and philanthropic communities to complement existing operating support. Work closely with President/Executive Director and Director of Development to develop an overall fundraising strategy and identify potential foundation support. Design, implement, and manage fundraising campaigns and events. Manage strategies and activities for donor cultivation, solicitation, and relations.
  • Develop plans to grow the Macon programs, financially and programmatically.
  • Develop, maintain, and support a strong Local Advisory Council and Respite Clinical Advisory Committee, which assist with strategic direction for ongoing operations and fundraising in Macon.
  • Ensure operating results established in the annual project budget are achieved. Control operating expenses within budget and with prudence.
  • Manage staff in recording data for program outputs and outcomes, providing reports and statistics as required.
  • Ensure adherence to all quality assurance policies and procedures, especially alignment with the organization’s Vincentian values.
  • Work with Management Team to maximize the quality of services offered by Macon project(s) to improve the lives of individuals facing homelessness.
  • Deploy a corps of volunteers to assist in service delivery. Recruit, orient, lead, and support staff and volunteers. Liaise with organization’s senior management team to maintain agency-required records of staff and volunteers with all legal and organizational requirements.
  • In collaboration with program staff and community members, recruit in-kind donations for the project including kitchen and food supplies, cooked meals, clothing, hygiene supplies and other items.
  • Manage staff development, discipline and recognition.

Additional Tasks And Responsibilities

  • With the Clinic Manager and Respite Manager, maintain relationships with key partners including hospitals, Bibb County Medical Association, Department of Public Health, and physicians. Regularly meet with hospital partners.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Director, Respite Manager, case managers, Volunteer Coordinator, security, and maintenance to assure participant and respite needs are met.
  • Conduct tours of Daybreak and the Respite for visitors and volunteers.
  • Build good working relationships with other projects and agencies.
  • Stay informed of current local and national events, trends, and issues (wherever possible), that impact Depaul USA’s work with the homeless.
  • Maintain all records—financial, managerial, statistical, and operational—necessary for the smooth running of the project.

General Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • Strive continuously to develop the role in collaboration with the supervisor to ensure that all tasks are being undertaken in an effective and appropriate manner, meeting the strategic goals and objectives of Depaul USA.
  • Participate in internal/external meetings as required, attend training events, conferences, and other functions as necessary.
  • Participate in regular supervision and annual evaluations, identifying his or her own developmental and training needs.
  • Ensure adherence to all Depaul USA policies and procedures, particularly those relating to Health and Safety, Safeguarding and the Code of Practice and Confidentiality.
  • Contribute to the effective implementation of Depaul USA’s Equal Opportunities Policy as it affects both the organization and its work with this client group.
  • Undertake the role in a professional manner maintaining a high-quality standard of work, in accordance with the vision, mission and values of Depaul USA.

Qualifications

The ideal Director will be an experienced professional with several years of experience in program management capacity, ideally in the social services setting. S/he will ideally have experience: leading others, designing programs, developing procedures for services, managing staff, developing relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, fundraising, and adapting to changing organization needs. The Director will have the following experience and attributes:

  • A four-year degree plus 5 years of experience in a managerial capacity.
  • Exceptional management skills, especially in application to leadership, program design and development, fundraising, and relationship management.
  • Exceptional communication, multi-tasking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with all Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to organize tasks, events, and people, and delegate effectively; and
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to work as a team and at all levels of the organization.

Special Requirement

  • Must possess a valid Georgia Class C driver's license and comply with Depaul USA’s Motor Vehicle Policy during the course of employment. Additionally, occasional use of a personal vehicle may be necessary.

Work Schedule

  • Primarily in-person from Depaul USA’s campus in Macon, GA.
  • Monday-Friday, 7am - 4pm EST, but schedule may need to be altered to be present and supervise all shifts.
  • In rotation with leadership team on call evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
