This position is responsible for the planning, organizing, development, implementation, direction, and quality assurance/improvement and compliance activities of the laboratory department. This includes but is not limited to developing strategic plans, development and management of the department budget, and ensuring the effectiveness of regulatory compliance policies and procedures.
Job Functions
Provides leadership and oversight of all Laboratory operations, programs and services within the department. Develops programs, goals and objectives consistent with those of the organizations overall strategic plan and initiatives.
Develops operational and capital budgets, manages operating expenses and key indicators within the budget. Develops, implements, coordinates, monitors, evaluates and integrates Laboratory services that contribute to the overall success and financial viability of Laboratory services. Uses creativity in the delivery of services and products in a highly competitive market.
Plans, supports and leads quality improvement efforts consistent with RMC process improvement methods for relevant Laboratory services in alignment with organizational goals. Responsible for all regulatory aspects of the laboratory operations including planning and organization need to maintain CLIA/CMS compliance at all sites.
Manages staff resources by overseeing the recruiting, selecting, hiring and orienting qualified individuals. Evaluates staff performance in an accurate, consistent, objective and timely manner. Develops core position hiring strategies and ensures opportunities for professional development. Creates a cohesive Laboratory department committed to providing distributive, clinical and service quality to all customers.
Develops and monitors applicable policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agency standards. Accurately and completely documents patient assessment data and clinical interventions.
May participate on hospital and medical staff committees and serve as a professional resource for physicians, clinicians and leadership. May also collaborate with physicians and clinicians regarding Laboratory programs and services. May represent Laboratory and Ridgeview Medical Center in community outreach including participation on committees and in doing presentations.

Employment Requirements
Minimum Education/Work Experience
Bachelor’s Degree
3-5 years of supervisory experience with progressive managing responsibilities
Working knowledge of Laboratory regulatory and compliance with CLIA/CMS standards
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop team
Excellent communication and influencing skills and ability to build strong working relationships at all levels
Assures excellent service with a high degree of urgency to internal and external customers
Systemic thinking when contemplating and implementing change
Proficiency in Microsoft suite
Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
