The Director, IT Change Portfolio Delivery has a key leadership role at Legal and General America and reports to the Sr. Director ITSM Change Management. This role will be responsible for leading Agile Scrum teams and will partner with business leadership to help them achieve their short- and long-term business objectives. The Director, IT Change Portfolio Delivery will work closely with IT leadership to shape the overall change portfolio to ensure the right products are built with the right features at the right time to meet business propositions focused on growth, experience, and cost reduction through digital strategy. Additionally, this role will be responsible for deployment activity through alignment across the IT organization and providing technical guidance, planning, tracking, and overall portfolio management for the team ensuring quality software is delivered on time and within budget using best practices, tools, and techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Inspire your teams to build the best outcome for the customer and/or end-user. Ensure product design and development processes meet the needs of the customer and drive business value.
  • Responsible for end-to-end solution delivery of the Change, Transformation, Digital Innovation, or Safety & Soundness portfolios ensuring alignment of activities, processes and information flow between the IT Delivery teams as well as the entire IT organization.
  • Lead and oversee the execution of quick-win projects and changes, understanding their specific needs, goals, and challenges and ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet or exceed expectations. Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues that may impact program delivery. Understand and communicate the drivers, goals, and strategy associated with programs and products.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key business stakeholders, IT Service Delivery, Business Change Management, Infrastructure, Architecture, and Program Management to lead the execution of the project portfolio and implementation of the IT vision and strategy.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure valuable releases early and often; solving complex business or functional problems and coordinating work as necessary.
  • Provide ongoing communication to stakeholders on progress, expectation management and to remove impediments.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the progress of programs and measure the success of the portfolio Scrum teams. V alidate the success of initiatives that contribute to LGAs goals and vision. Turn data insight into actionable outcomes to the ultimate customer.
  • Regularly report on performance to IT senior leadership, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommended actions.
  • Determine, monitor, and review all practices within the team, including costs, supply & demand of staffing requirements, and risk, ensuring that there are appropriate and effective governance arrangements, supported by appropriate reporting.
  • Manage, track, and stay within the budget of all scrum teams and programs delivered within the portfolio.
  • Provide leadership and guidance across multiple Agile Scrum teams comprised of multiple practices including software engineers, quality assurance analysts, business analysts, product owners, and scrum masters. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Mentor and develop team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.
  • Lead, mentor, coach and evaluate the teams and develop employees through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; build and maintain employee morale and motivation; ensure the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; foster a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Be a change champion and create an environment that is open, informed and empowered, to continually improve effectiveness and deliver value to the Serve as a change agent and model progressive, collaborative, positive and agile leadership.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding LGA, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgement regarding behavior, conduct, and practices. Escalate, manage, and report control issues with transparency and create accountability where appropriate.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) or equivalent experience in relevant fields of information technology, software engineering, or computer science.

Experience/Knowledge

  • 10+ years experience in delivering complex technology and business projects in a leadership role that exceed stakeholder expectations, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • 10+ years of people management experience.

Skills

  • Specific experience managing product priorities, setting delivery expectations and delivering software enhancements on schedule, on budget, with excellent quality.
  • Exceptional delivery management skills, including the ability to set priorities, allocate resources, and manage project budgets and timelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with exceptional presentation skills and high emotional intelligence.
  • Strong leadership and management skills - creates and drives strategic vision, mentoring and coaching of staff and continuous feedback and support through effective planning and tracking.
  • Delivery against product roadmaps aligning design with need.
  • Strong sense of urgency.
  • Organization skills – situational leadership, technical leadership, high attention to detail, and proven ability to resolve escalations with minimal impact to production schedules.
  • Self-starter who shows initiative to learn new technology and software development methodologies.
  • Experience managing projects with cross functional teams (engineering teams, customers and 3rd party development partners)
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a strategic mindset and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder requirements.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and client needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and operational efficiencies in delivery functions.
  • Proficiency in using project management tools/software and CRM systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to client delivery and project management.

What’s in it for you?

The expected hiring compensation range for this position is $152,100 - 220,575 annually.

The total compensation package for this position may include other elements, such as a sign-on bonus, long term incentives, and annual bonuses. This role is eligible to participate in the Legal & General America Annual Incentive Plan. The current target payment for the position is 20% of base salary, modified for corporate and individual performance. Bonuses are pro-rated based on start date. This role has 20 vacation days and 10 sick days that are accrued on a bi-weekly basis. Employees also have 9 paid holidays throughout the calendar year .
