The Director reports to the Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness and will support institutional research and assessment efforts at The Cooper Union.
The Director is primarily responsible for conducting statistical analysis for internal and external reporting. This includes supporting several key institutional reporting functions including CDS, IPEDS, NYSED and AITU reports. These reports are built from the annual analysis of enrollment and headcount; persistence, retention, graduation, and equity metrics; performance outcomes; and faculty data.
Key Responsibilities
In conjunction with the VP of institutional effectiveness the Director will
Support data efficacy across Cooper Union’s administrative and academic reporting units by advancing data management protocols and processes among stakeholders that support the school’s ability to report in accordance with higher education standards.
Support school-wide efforts to collect, analyze, interpret, and disseminate institutional data, findings, and recommendations for purposes of strategic planning and decision-making.
Share and disseminate data through different data visualization tools and communication channels.
Communicate data findings to internal and external constituents.
Support academic and non-academic program review processes, including school-wide assessment processes.
Actively participate in accreditation efforts.
Manage surveys, questionnaires and other data-gathering instruments administered by the Office.
Manage a library of institutional planning and research documents.
In conjunction with the VP Institutional Effectiveness the Director will support the deans, faculty, and staff in identifying and implementing institutional research priorities and assessment activities that foster program efficacy and student success; and the Planning and Assessment Council on developing an agenda that will support course and program assessment including the identification and assessment of learning outcomes.
Provides support to ad hoc requests; particularly in analyzing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data in response to ongoing strategic planning needs.
Skills/Requirements
Experience with the following is preferred:
Statistical analysis and interpretation
Ellucian databases, data extraction, manipulation, and visualization
SPSS or similar software for descriptive and inferential statistical analysis.
Business intelligence, reporting tools, and relational databases.
Microsoft Office, including Excel and Access.
Tableau, Power BI, Power Pivot, and SQL.
Federal reporting standards
Candidate must have excellent organizational, oral, written and presentation skills, with attention to details and deadlines; and demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with diverse, internal, and external constituencies.
Education
A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of responsible experience in higher education. An advanced degree is preferred.
