Established in 2023, New Carrot Company, operating under the name Bolthouse Fresh Foods, is headquartered in the California Central Valley community of Bakersfield. Specializing in carrot production, the company caters to both retail and food service operations and is renowned for its Bolthouse Farms brand, widely distributed in major retailers across the United States and Canada.

Bolthouse Fresh Foods is a subsidiary of Butterfly Equity, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm with a specialty in the food sector. Butterfly Equity's expertise spans the entire food value chain, from 'seed to fork,' with a focus on agriculture & aquaculture, food & beverage products, food distribution, and foodservice.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Human Resources Director contributes to overall organization success by acting as a strategic business partner and advocate. Responsible for developing talent within Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations and Benefits team. This will be achieved through the development of establishing recruitment strategies, employee relations tactics to retain talent while providing best-in-class benefits support. The incumbent will play a critical role in ensuring we are attracting, hiring, and retaining the best talent. The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating with fellow HR team members and operational managers to ensure the successful execution of business strategies.

Job Duties

  • Collaborates with senior leadership to understand organizations goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from organizations human resource information systems (HRIS) or talent management system.
  • Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews and modified policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Collaborates with cross- functional teams to ensure clients' organizational needs are met and to develop strategic programs.
  • Support department leadership with projects and team responsibilities.
  • Provides investigation and consultation support to managers.
  • Ensures compliance with Employer of Choice practices to attract high- quality diverse candidates.
  • Facilitates employee acquisition, engagement, development, retention strategies, succession planning and career development in accordance with Bolthouse Fresh Foods ethical principles and Core Values
  • Integrates company-wide Employee Resources, strategic plans, projects and objectives into client business units, departments, and regions.
  • Provides information, or facilitates employees' ability to obtain information, about benefits, compensation, training and other Partner Resources programs and services.
  • Works with assigned business units, department, or regional clients to assess needs and to design and develop organization structures and talent plans.
  • Participate in Safety Roundtables to review/approve accountability.
  • Draft and create new JDS for promotions, equities, or new roles.
  • Ensure I9 audits are completed on a quarterly basis.
  • Agency partnership collaboration
  • Develop and execute end-to-end recruiting plans.
  • Aid public relations in establishing a recognizable “employer of choice” reputation for the company, both internally and externally.
  • Elevates employee experience through learning and development, retention strategies, succession planning and career development.
  • Interpret and explain human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity, affirmative action guidelines, and employment laws.
  • Ensure HRIS and related programs contains up-to-date and accurate information for benefits and leave information.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities and provide support as needed for all leave-related inquiries (including FMLA, CFRA, STD, LTD, etc.)
  • Performs reconciliation process on benefits invoices and ensures timely processing of invoices.
  • Own end to end permanent accommodations and assist departments with accommodation requirements under the American Disabilities Act.
  • Oversee and coordinate annual compliance filings related to employee benefits, ensuring accurate and timely submission of required documentation, including Form 5500, Summary Annual Reports, annual audits and other mandated filings.
  • Oversee Bolthouse Fresh Foods benefits administration processes and conduct periodic audits to ensure data integrity across platforms and payroll.
  • Work with HRIS team to ensure benefits administration is operating effectively within HRIS, including updates for changes due to modifications in plans. Work with EDI teams to set up or modify automatic carrier file feeds as needed.
  • Ensure compliance of US benefit programs with regulations, including HIPAA, COBRA, ACA reporting, benefits NDT and other national and local regulatory filings, legal disclosures and benefits notices.
  • Builds strong relationships with employees across all layers of the organization and is viewed as a trusted advisor to management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, human resources or industrial relations, business administration, or a related field OR Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Human Resources Manager with progressive responsibilities with emphasis in performance development, training, employee relations, talent acquisition, and benefits 6+years
  • Consulting with internal clients to identify business needs and recommend solutions 5+ years.
  • Supervisory experience 5+ years
  • Valid California Driver License
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English and Spanish
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Federal, State, and Local employment laws and regulations.
  • Consulting with internal clients to identify business needs and recommend solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior Human Resources Experience supporting Ag and/or Manufacturing.
  • 8+ years Human Resources Experience
  • Experience providing consultative and collaborative advice and support to business leaders on all HR matters, including but not limited to recruitment, employee relations, benefits, leaves and performance management.

Physical Demands

  • May be required to sit or stand for an extended period of time during work period.
  • May be required to package items, lift and carry boxes up to 40 lbs.
  • May be required to walk and climb stairs,

Hours & Workdays

  • 1st shift (8:00am-5:00pm) Monday through Friday, when business require before/after hours will be mandatory.
