Director, Global Supply Chain - Elixir Strings

About the Role: We are looking for a Global Supply Chain Leader to join our Elixir Strings team. In this role, you’ll help our team continue our success by implementing a robust supply chain strategy aligned with our long-term business objectives centered on growth and innovation. You’ll be providing leadership to a team of supply chain professionals and a key member of the Elixir Strings Leadership Team. In addition to managing daily global shipments, you’ll need to maintain a long-term view to identify the strategic supply chain capabilities required to enable growth for years to come.

Elixir(R) Strings is a leading brand in the music industry and go-to product for some of the best guitarists and bassists around the world. Part of Gore, global innovator in material science, Elixir Strings began 25 years ago as the innovator of the coated string. By protecting the string from dirt, debris, and corrosion, we enable musicians to retain their voice and trust that their instrument will sound it’s best every time they pick it up.

This position will be located at our facility in Elkton, Maryland, with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • To make tools that inspire musicians to create, express, and connect throughout their musical journey
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive supply chain strategy that aligns with growth objectives and market demands of the Elixir Strings business
  • Be an active member of the Elixir Strings Leadership Team, collaborate with technical, product development, marketing, and sales to ensure alignment of supply chain operations with overall business goals
  • Lead a team of 5 to 10 multi-disciplinary supply chain professionals, align the work to be done with the strong skills and development of those on the team, while fostering a highly collaborative and high-performance team dynamic
  • Develop and execute an annual forecast of costs related to cost of goods sold and manufacturing overhead
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and contract manufacturers while developing the objectives that inform our procurement and sourcing strategies; including but not limited to, targets for raw material costs, ensuring high-quality standards, and contractual obligations with supply chain partners
  • Play an active role in the cross-functional S&OP process, accountable for defining the timing, quantity, and cost of supplying new and current products relative to forecasted demand; identifying root cause and corrective actions when demand exceeds the ability to supply
  • Optimize inventory levels and implement processes to balance supply and demand, minimize stock outs, and reduce excess inventory costs
  • Partner with global logistics operations including warehousing, transportation, and distribution to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvements, leveraging data, analytics, and capabilities of those on the team to drive efficiencies, enhance supply chain performance, and optimize costs


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in end-to-end supply chain management in a global environment
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading supply chain teams and helping others develop the necessary analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex challenges
  • Proven experience supporting the development and commercialization of new products, covering aspects such as raw material sourcing, manufacturing process development, and planning of capital investments
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives that resulted in efficiency gains, waste reduction, and/or cost savings
  • Strong working knowledge of a robust S&OP process, supporting existing products as well as the commercialization of new products
  • Proficiency in supply chain management software and systems, including ERP and advanced analytics tools
  • Demonstrated ability to create and implement a strategic plan that connects business goals to actionable supply chain initiatives and achieve measurable success
  • Demonstrated ability to forecast supply chain investments and execute to forecast, ideally with experience problem solving and implementing corrective actions when investments are over forecast
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated through effective cross-functional collaboration, managing expectations with external partners, and/or conflict resolution.
  • Ability to 15% domestically for meetings with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and cross-functional leadership team


Desired Qualifications:

  • CSCP or comparable certification
  • Prior experience with consumer-packaged goods and/or a high-volume manufacturing platform for a global customer base
  • Experience managing supply chains supporting ecommerce, direct to consumer, and/or Amazon
