Job Description

The role of the Finance Business Partner, AMR is to work alongside the commercial function, using strong analytical skills to advise and support decision-making through strategic insights. The Finance Business Partner is to assist in the improvement of business operations and performance.

Day to day this role will provide finance and commercial support to the Regional Commercial teams, working closely alongside the Regional VP. This role will be responsible for the budgeting, forecasting and regional P&L management; ensuring all are performed to the highest quality and service standards. The role will provide bespoke analytics to support the Regional VP and their Commercial team. In addition, the role will provide finance support on new contract, in particular pricing.

Significant subject matter expertise is required, as well as an ethos of continuous improvement for all activity within the remit ensuring best in class performance and practices.

Through working closely with FP&A, the Group Reporting and Transactional Services team in Finance, as well as with Regional Commercial team leads, Regional Customer Solutions leads, this role will ensure timely management information is reported to both the VP Finance, CFO and VP Commercial AMR, as appropriate.

An active member of the Oxford Nanopore Finance Team, the role is a key point of collaboration with regional commercial and operational leaders to consistently improve the way the business is run and provide the levels of insight, analysis, and management information to underpin sustainable growth.

Duties

Duties Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Ownership of Budget and Forecasting for the AMR Region; Coordinating activities with FP&A and Reporting functions to capture bottom-up budget and forecasting information.
    • Develop and deliver the budget and be the point person in delivering a rolling 3-5y business plan from a financial perspective.
    • Help develop and deliver a regional P&L
    • Proactively deliver value added insight through right first time, accurate, timely and relevant financial reports.
    • Work with the wider finance team as required to ensure efficiency of cashflows, alongside tasks above.
  • Ownership of finance processes and procedures in the AMR Region.
    • Working closely with the Revenue accountant to ensure compliance with IFRS15
    • Cost reporting and management; ensuring procure to pay cycle processes and procedures are followed
    • overseeing the daily order to cash process, working closely with the Invoicing and AR teams in Finance, as well as the Customer Solutions team
    • Oversee process improvements across region
    • Work with other Regional FBPs and VP Finance to ensure best practice and consistency across the group
  • Ownership and delivery of management information to both VP of Finance and to Regional business leaders as appropriate, including:
    • Revenue reporting: From historical revenue reporting to weekly and monthly revenue projection reviews, including order and shipment tracking
    • Operating cost review and control over spend
  • Business partnering, delivering operational and financial excellence. Take responsibility for delivering a high level of customer service to our internal stakeholders.
    • Continually drive increased visibility of revenue performance and opportunities, gross margin, and cost management across the business through improved management reporting and analysis.
    • Supporting Commercial teams on contract negotiation with a particular focus on pricing
    • Maintain a rolling SWOT by region
    • Work with the Commercial analytics team to provide greater detail and understanding to the financial performance.
    • Work with Commercial Operations and marketing functions to deliver business intelligence to commercial leads.
  • People management and Leadership: Ensure the appropriate level of resource and expertise within the team and that this is structured in the most effective manner to deliver the strategy. Ensure clear objectives for all team members and that key messages are communicated clearly across the team as needed. Recognize and celebrate success on a team and individual level.
  • Personal: Operate in the role according to Oxford Nanopore values and lead by example. Liaise with internal & external partners to support and improve the quality of service offering to clients. Develop and maintain effective business relationships with internal & external partners. Ensure personal knowledge of industry trends and developments are relevant and up to date.

MUST-HAVE

  • BS in Business Finance or other relevant discipline.
  • +5 years' experience in a finance role.
  • +2 years in Life Science Research Tools (LSRT) space
  • Demonstrable experience as a Finance Business Partner.
  • Experience in a growth environment with ability to change quickly.
  • Disciplined decision making especially in negotiating contracts.


NICE TO HAVE

  • Understanding-Working knowledge of IFRS15.
  • US GAAP Certification
  • MS 365 Dynamics and Excel.
  • Salesforce
  • Experience in distribution networks. (LATAM and Canada)
  • Diplomatic and has good gravitas


Specific to this Role

The location is remote (US Homeworker) in the United States.

The salary for this role is between $120,000 and $170,000 USD. The salary offered will reflect the skills and experience of the candidate.
