Position: Director - Experiential Education/Faculty


Location: Davie-Fort Lauderdale Campus


Responsibilities:


The Director - Experiential Education/Faculty ensures the quality and effectiveness of Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs); directs and oversees APPEs for students from the Ft. Lauderdale/Davie campus; provides leadership and instruction to Barry and Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy students. The Director also supports the Associate Dean of the Professional Program; and collaborates with College of Pharmacy personnel in pursuit of its mission and vision. The Director - Experiential Education/Faculty is responsible for the following:


1. Directing Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs) and administering the Florida Board of Pharmacy Intern license program for students from the Fort Lauderdale/Davie and Palm Beach Campuses.

2. Planning, developing, implementing, and updating policies and procedures governing logistical and instructional operations for APPEs.

3. Communicating the purpose, expectations, and requirements of the College’s experiential program to APPE preceptors.

4. Recruiting and actively maintaining APPE sites, ensuring quality indicators are met.

5. Engaging in continuous quality improvement of the experiential program to ensure the best learning environment for students.

6. Maintaining active communication and acting as a liaison with APPE sites and preceptors to ensure the best interests of students and the institution.

7. Conducting and documenting site visits for new and ongoing review of existing APPE sites.

8. Acting as the primary contact for students from the Palm Beach campus regarding experiential education issues.

9. Supplementing preceptor development activities in collaboration with the Director of Preceptor Development.

10. Assisting in managing the preceptor disbursement process.

11. Managing new preceptor applications and determining eligibility/acceptance in collaboration with the experiential team.

12. Planning, developing, and coordinating Preceptor Advisory Council meetings and other relevant meetings and events.

13. Participating in scholarly activities, including research and dissemination of knowledge through conference presentations, posters, publications, and other scholarly writings. Experiential team scholarship is highly encouraged.

14. Obtaining and maintaining affiliation agreements.

15. Assigning students to sites and preceptors.

16. Monitoring, evaluating, and counseling students.

17. Overseeing the clearance process for students to attend APPE sites.

18. Providing didactic, laboratory, and experiential education.

19. Actively participating in College and University committees.

20. Attending graduation, convocation, white coat ceremony, and other college activities.

21. Ensuring compliance with University policies and procedures and accreditation standards.

22. Performing other duties as required.


Required Qualifications:

Experience:

- Minimum of one (1) year of postdoctoral/residency/academic/clinical experience.


Education:

- Doctoral Degree

Preferred Qualifications:

- One (1) year of administrative experience.
