Summary Description
: Under direction from the director, Department of Materials Management, maintains a leadership role in the development of a printing, design and copier operation and supervises all daily activities within the Editorial, Graphics and Publishing Services (EGPS) division. This includes the graphic content and composition, central duplicating and printing, custom printing and editorial work, workforce development program for interns and apprentices, school copier maintenance team and school copier maintenance work groups. Identifies, develops and maintains the division's mission, and the creative and technical objectives required for sustained success. Coordinates directly with inter-office and inter-agency project teams in support of instructional, administrative and communications initiatives. Leads cross functional professional learning communities focused on the development of districtwide resources. Supervises all staff in the various functional areas.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, And ABILITIES
Strong working knowledge of graphic arts and visual communications in cross-media environments. Expert knowledge in Web-based and print media graphic content development. Knowledge of how to utilize new technology and infuse new software into design work. Ability to lead staff meetings, build leadership team, develop and lead professional learning communities, work under pressure, and respond to strict deadlines. Ability to collaborate with various offices within MCPS and provide advice and develop supporting action plans to customers on work requests. Excellent planning, organization, management, communications and interpersonal skills. Strong writing ability. Ability to prepare budgets and financial forecasts. Ability to monitor the financial aspects of the operation and adjust services as necessary. Knowledge of MCPS policies and procedures and procurement and purchasing practices. Demonstrated ability to supervise and evaluate staff. Knowledge of the seven core competencies of the Supporting Service Professional Growth System and the leadership standards of the A&S Professional Growth System.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, And EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 10 years of management experience in a professional setting providing visual communication arts management, and cross-media production. Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree in fine arts or graphic communication. Master's degree preferred from an accredited university in the field of education, with coursework in graphics arts and production highly desirable. Experience working with government and community members in the application of publications and programs. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provides the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position.
