SUMMARY:


The Director, Corporate Finance coordinates the Stewart Companies Corporate finance function in partnership with the CFO and is also responsible for providing comprehensive financial leadership for the Real Estate business units. This position develops effective financial reporting for Board of Directors and shareholders and creates business cases and models to support the Company’s strategic initiatives and M&A activity. The position also supports Real Estate leadership in guiding the financial and business activities to maximize net income, cash flow and value growth.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Corporate Finance Management

Directs preparation of information, data and analysis for quarterly Board of Directors’ meetings and monthly investment committee meetings.

Oversees ongoing consolidation of the Stewart Companies financial results and analyses for Board and shareholder reporting.

Responsible for acquisition/divestiture and business case analysis, including modeling and due diligence activities across the company’s business units.

Participates in the coordination of the company’s long-term strategic planning processes.

Participates in strategic development and ongoing management of the Company’s treasury, banking and insurance programs.

Provides financial support for corporate functions (HR, IT, etc.) as needed.


Real Estate and Corporate HQ Controlling

  • Provides support and counsel on financial and business matters to Real Estate operating leaders.
  • Ensures optimum performance of the real estate finance function and works with the finance and business teams to identify and implement initiatives to improve overall business effectiveness and profitability.

Oversees the preparation and evaluation of budgets, business/operational analysis, forecasts, and business case analyses for Real Estate and Corporate.

Establishes and maintains Real Estate and Corporate accounting principles, practices, controls and procedures and ensures alignment with company policies/processes.

Ensures that effective operating cost and expense controlling is established and that tools are in place to manage and control expenses and spending.

Completes assessments of operating performance to budget, forecast, and prior year results, and other financial operating reports as needed.


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and a minimum 10-15 years of directly relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Must be a strong developer of talent and must be able to appropriately delegate and manage the performance of a team of direct reports.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP Accounting Principles, procedures and policies is required.
  • CPA or CMA designation is preferred but not required.
  • Must have superior analytical skills and attention to detail combined with a strong business acumen.
  • Must have experience in financial reporting and analysis and financial planning as well as an understanding of financial modeling techniques.
  • Experience with commercial real estate investing and financing is helpful but not required.
  • Experience managing banking relationships and financing arrangements is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and relationship-building skills are required.
  • Must have the ability to effectively lead initiatives and drive projects to conclusion through strong project management skills.
  • Must possess a high level of integrity, transparency, and accountability.
  • Must be able to effectively present information to executives, shareholders and Board Members.
  • Must have experience in reviewing and interpreting contracts and in contract negotiations.
