About This Role

As the largest provider of PHP/IOP programs and psychiatric services in Illinois, Compass Health Center is one of the fastest-growing behavioral health organizations in the country. Launched in September 2023, our newest location in Silver Spring, MD, is home to top local talent in behavioral health care. This interdisciplinary team of trailblazers is building our adolescent, and adult programs from the ground up alongside the leadership of well-established clinicians and doctors working in PHP/IOP behavioral health care for the past decade.


As we continue our journey at our Silver Spring facility, we are seeking an experienced Director of Clinical Services to lead our clinical programs. In partnership with the rest of the Silver Spring Leadership Team and reporting to the Vice President and Site leader, this individual will play a key role in building and shaping a strong culture of clinical excellence at the location, while offering direct coaching and development to our team. Our programs will serve patients across a variety of diagnoses including Mood/Anxiety, OCD/Complex Anxiety, Trauma, and Substance Use.


What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee clinical services for all partial hospital and intensive outpatient programming at the site.
  • Provide direct managerial oversight to clinical staff including, but not limited to, primary therapists and family therapists.
  • Lead and assist with other staff and services as needed.
  • Provide clinical supervision
  • Work collaboratively with site leadership to identify hiring/staffing needs and participate in the interviewing and hiring process
  • Ensure new clinic staff receive proper training, support, and coaching
  • Conduct employee performance appraisals and provide feedback to facilitate professional growth and competence.
  • Lead the day-to-day execution of clinical service delivery including the admission, treatment, and discharging of patients in accordance with Compass standards of care
  • Managing program paid time off to ensure adequate staffing patterns
  • Managing Program Intake schedule with assistance from VP
  • Responding to clinical crises as needed and coordinating response of others
  • Oversees the implementation of program material and curriculum
  • Participate in community outreach and other activities to increase awareness of Compass programs and services.
  • Directing and coordinating clinical services including frequent communication and collaboration with team members via rounds, EMR notes, emails, and face-to-face communication
  • Participating in professional development activities
  • Provide direct patient care as needed, collaborating closely with clinical center of excellence to ensure appropriate clinical protocols are implemented
  • Lead continual process improvement initiatives to enhance care delivery and in support of Compass organizational goals


Who You Are:

  • Licensed Doctorate Level Psychologist, Masters Level Clinician with clinical license, or a postgraduate degree in a healthcare field
  • Licensed to provide supervision in designated field upon hire or obtained within 6 months of hire
  • Experience developing and managing programs and clinical teams
  • Experience in understanding and utilizing data to drive improvement in clinical operations and key performance initiatives
  • Experience supervising therapists, both licensed and seeking licensure
  • Knowledge and experience utilizing CBT, ACT, DBT, ERP, CPT, and Motivational Interviewing, in both individual and group settings among other effective and efficacious treatments
  • Preferably, supervisory experience in a program
  • Experience with patients in crisis
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to juggle multiple demands simultaneously in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Supervisory experience in a behavioral health intermediate (partial hospital and/or intensive outpatient) level of care or higher.
