Director, Business Controller

Job Description

Responsible for Business Units accounting (Home Services, Brands, Retail etc.) in accordance with US GAAP, financial reporting and operations. Oversee internal controls related to Business Units. Special projects and ad hoc requests as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting processes for P&L and balance sheet by Business Unit (Home Services, Brands, Retail etc.) and related balance sheet reconciliations
• Own revenue recognition process, appropriate recognition of costs of sales, optimal management of margins, operating expenses
• Drives operational excellence for Business Unit related financial processes and establish and continuously improve processes and controls, and drive scalability across high growth Business Units
• Conduct in-depth financial analysis for P&L and Balance Sheet by business unit, including variance analysis and trend analysis, to support decision-making and provide insights to senior management
• Effectively communicates financial results and insights to senior management, and other key stakeholders
• Manage relationships with key internal stakeholders, coordinating audit activities, and ensuring efficient and successful audit processes
• Support special projects and business initiatives as needed

Job Requirements

• Minimum 12 years of Accounting and Controllership experience with at least 5 years as a Business Unit Controller in large or medium sized public and private companies across diverse sectors (technology, services, retail, manufacturing, etc.)
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral with all levels and functions within the organization and external contributors including, auditors, consultants, etc,
• Track record of leading and coaching teams (~10 headcount)
• Track record of partnering effectively with different levels of management across the business units (Operations, Divisional Finance)
• Proficiency in MicroSoft Excel and MicroSoft Word
• Analytical mindset and a track record of making data-driven decisions
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• High degree of integrity and commitment to ethical financial practices

Preferred Skills

• Public accounting experience / CPA a plus
• Experience with Netsuite ERP is a definite advantage
