Builders Network is committed to equipping people to overcome extremist thinking and toxic polarization to solve our toughest problems together. We are tackling extremist thinking leading to toxic polarization in the United States, the conflict in the Middle East, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Our initiatives seek to equip citizens to take constructive action in spheres that shape culture and thought, including media, civics, and education. We are a brand new US-based 501c3.

FLAGSHIP PROGRAMS:

Citizen Solutions addresses hyper-partisan gridlock at the state level in the US. By engaging citizens in deliberative dialogue sessions and incorporating feedback from diverse stakeholders, Citizen Solutions has produced consensus-backed policy proposals in states like Tennessee and Wisconsin, reflecting the collective will of the people.

Builders Media is dedicated to producing digital content that challenges divisive narratives and stereotypes. By encouraging viewers to consider different perspectives, Builders Media aims to break down social media silos and help viewers expand their hearts and minds.

Builders’ Toolkit focuses on equipping individuals and educational institutions with resources to promote critical thinking and deliberative dialogue among students K through University. By empowering young people to question rigid ideologies and engage in constructive discourse, the Builders Toolkit aims to cultivate a generation of thoughtful problem-solvers.

About The Role

The Director, Builders’ Toolkit, is responsible for developing impactful programs and collaborating with educational institutions and communities. The Director will contribute to promoting inclusivity, civic engagement, and social cohesion, ultimately advancing Builders' mission of creating a more peaceful and democratic world.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Program Development and Evaluation: Develop strategies to expand Builders' educational tools and programs with the goal of expanding a more flexible mode of thinking and collaborating
  • Capacity Building: Identify opportunities for capacity building within educational institutions and communities to promote critical thinking and problem-solving. Provide training and resources to educators and community leaders
  • Research and Innovation: Stay updated on research and best practices in education, extremism prevention, and conflict resolution. Apply findings to enhance program effectiveness
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish robust systems to track program impact and outcomes. Analyze data to inform decision-making and improve programs
  • Policy monitoring: Stay aware of trends and movements in public education that support or challenge the goals of Builders, including civic education and critical thinking
  • Resource Mobilization: Collaborate with leadership to execute on relevant aspects of the fundraising strategy
  • Crisis Response and Support: Provide guidance and resources to educators to address crises, such as hate speech
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with school boards, university administrators, government agencies, and communication teams to ensure program alignment and uptake
  • Educational Resource Development: Advise on grantmaking and oversee the development, distribution, and evaluation of educational resources
  • Monitoring Trends: Stay informed about trends in civic and pluralism education on campuses

Requirements

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE, YOU:

  • Have a master's degree or higher in education in the social sciences, international relations, or related field
  • Have prior experience in curriculum development, program management, or educational leadership roles with a proven track record of program creation, adoption, and measured impact
  • Have an in-depth understanding of extremism, polarization, and their impacts on society
  • Have experience in identifying funding opportunities and managing grant-funded projects
  • Have strong project management skills to oversee program development and evaluation
  • Have an understanding of civic education principles and practices
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Feel motivated by the Builders mission to amplify the voices of Builders to overcome extremism in all forms; personally identify as a flexible thinker and constructive problem solver who respects the dignity of all people
  • Seek to continuously learn and grow, maintaining an open mind and hunger for constructive feedback
  • Hold yourself accountable to achieving results and driving toward those results on your own initiative
  • Are creative, collaborative and resourceful
