The Director, Accounting - Defense Aftermarket shall be responsible for overseeing and successfully managing day-to-day financial responsibilities and activities specific to the assigned region. The Director, Accounting - Defense Aftermarket will work closely with other members of the accounting department to uphold the highest standards of financial acuity and shall be responsible for determining short-term and long-term financial goals and objectives. The role will be tasked with providing robust support and guidance to members of the accounting team to ensure successful outcomes. The successful candidate is a motivated, hardworking leader who possesses an extremely high bar for themselves and the quality of their work product. Experience in high-growth acquisition growth models, supply chain, distribution, aerospace industry strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct day-to-day financial reporting systems, implementing scalable systems to support business expansion
  • Oversee general accounting, fixed asset accounting, inventory control, internal auditing, office equipment control, and record retention programs.
  • Direct the preparation of statistics for periodic and yearly financial statements, including the preparation of charts and graphs showing progress, conditions, and results
  • Preparation of business cases for capital expenditure requests and overall responsibility for the quality and integrity of capital expenditure requests raised by the location
  • Interpret operating results as the affect the financial aspects of the organization and make specific recommendations that will result in cost reduction and profit improvement
  • Directs internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls through the calendarized programs and Internal Audit team assessments.
  • Daily cash management and availability reporting to factor
  • Monitor and forecast cash flow activity through proactive analyses
  • Coordinates preparation of external audit materials as required
  • Manage and respond to various adhoc Corporate Headquarters and Tax requests as required Work with other locations as required
  • Evaluate and maintain a team in the global accounting organization; recommend training, new hires, or terminations when appropriate
  • Lead and nurture a team of high-performing FP&A professionals to support functional management and teams across the organization
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • 5-7 years of progressive finance leadership experience, preferably in private equity-backed environments
  • Mastery of technical accounting skills and GAAP accounting; experience in a working capital intensive organization is a plus
  • Proven track record of success in financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, and strategic decision-making
  • Highly proficient skills in Excel, and databases, experience with accounting-type software including Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, Planful (Host Analytics)
  • Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers
  • Strong leadership ability - establishes and communicates expectations, motivates individuals, and provides honest and specific feedback
  • Demonstrates integrity, bias for action, innovation, and ability to dive into the deepest details
  • Proven ability to implement, drive, improve and lead corporate accounting processes and procedures
  • Builds high-performance teams and cultures with strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude
  • Strong project management leadership, knowledge, and skills, covering planning and execution, including ability to rapidly assess risk and identify/resolve issues
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately create, analyze, and interpret financial data and reports
  • Innovative and hands-on approach to building and managing teams
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications
  • Motivates others by creating a climate in which people want to do their best
