THE JOB / Director of Accounting and Controls

The Director of Accounting and Controls will be responsible for assisting in establishing and maintaining adequate internal controls over financial reporting and remediating ineffective controls. This position will work as the liaison between management and our internal audit firm, to ensure the adequacy and effectiveness of the company's internal controls, risk management, and governance processes. The Director will report directly to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors and work closely with senior management, reporting internally to the Chief Financial Officer.

What You’ll Do - Job Responsibilities

The responsibilities and essential functions for this role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage controls risk assessments and scoping to identify key areas of risk and prioritize audit activities.
  • Work with our controls process owners and internal audit firm to remediate business processes and IT controls.
  • Prepare and present audit reports to senior management and the Audit Committee, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure the implementation of effective controls and monitor progress.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices in internal auditing.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and provide training and guidance to our staff.
  • Assist in the coordination with our external auditors and regulatory examinations.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Perform special accounting projects and investigations as requested by senior management or the Audit Committee.

What You’ll Bring - Qualifications And Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certifications (CPA, CIA, CISA) are highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in internal auditing, external auditing, or related fields, with at least 1 year in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of internal control frameworks, risk management principles, and auditing standards (e.g., COSO, IIA).
  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and regulatory requirements for publicly traded companies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards.
  • Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with data analytics tools is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $150K-$180K per year, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
