The Level II Digital Capture Technician will help oversee the day-to-day responsibilities of the digital capture jobs he/she is assigned to. The tech will work on set with the client to ensure their needs are met, files are managed properly, assets are delivered as specified by each client’s workflow, and all issues are resolved as they arise or as anticipated. The range of duties and responsibilities include managing client’s files on set, troubleshooting issues as they arise, and effectively communicating job related information to the Digital Capture Manager and Post Production Department.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide and maintain excellent communication with Digital Capture Manager of any issue regarding Splashlight services
Provide a smooth workflow for the client on set by managing image files and following proper file naming conventions
Troubleshoot on set issues
Provide expert point of contact for photographers and clients for all digital photography issues
Assume responsibility of all equipment in camera bag, ensuring everything is in proper working order and returned in the same condition end of day
Prepare and set up camera equipment and capture station on set
Oversee capture process ensuring that all images are captured properly
Notate all information necessary for the Post Production Department to further manage image delivery
Upload files to web and back up to central servers as necessary
Process and deliver files, contact sheets, and prints on set as necessary
Stay current with digital equipment and systems
Help with refining and updating client workflows
Train new Digital Capture Technicians through shadow days
Work in the Digital Equipment Department and Post Department as needed, including research and development, equipment pick up, testing and packing
Shoot castings, tech and shoot the Splashlight Photo Booth, and any other non revenue jobs as assigned from time to time by Splashlight
Skills / Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
2+ years of Digital Capture experience and customer/client service
Ability to detect and communicate advanced lighting issues
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple complex projects and priorities across multiple teams of people with a meticulous attention to detail
High comfort level working in a diverse environment
Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Capture One Pro, Mac OSX, Adobe Photoshop
Advanced understanding of Profoto & Broncolor lighting systems
Proficient skills with Canon and Nikon system and Proficient use of Phase and Hasselblad Medium format systems
Ability to assess and refine workflows
Understand basic retouching and demonstrate basic Photoshop skills

Position may require some evening and weekend work
Office days may be part of the rotation
Participation in monthly Digital Capture Technician meeting and monthly Digital Capture Coordinator group meeting
The ability to follow directions, sometimes from multiple sources and determine priorities
Improve quality results by studying, evaluating, re-designing processes and implementing changes
Help to enhance Splashlight’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
Keep up-to-date on the constantly changing digital technology and recommend new technology that could be beneficial to how we operate
