Position Summary Reporting to Head of eCommerce, the Business Development Manager will accelerate the rate of net new customer acquisition for the ofi business. This person will manage the flow of potential customer leads by segmenting, prioritizing, and directing appropriate outreach. The Business Development Manager will also be responsible for identifying new customers and for advising on strategies to further improve our targeted outreach and customer acquisition. The ideal candidate will be driven, professional, and highly self-motivated to develop and further relationships, the brand and the overall ofi business. This position presents a rare opportunity to build a high growth department inside one of the leading manufacturers and growers of food ingredients in the world. You will get to build a Business to Business (B2B) ecommerce business for ofi. This is a fast-paced and fluid startup inside a large, industry-leading, and well-resourced company.


Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for building a pipeline of new customers
  • Prioritize and Segment ofi Sales targets to convert into online customers.
  • Grow online customers to full maturity and transition to account management.
  • Identify and implement ways to drive rapid revenue growth through customer acquisition.
  • Manage follow-up and coordination of sales targets in the sales funnel. Fill the pipeline with high quality, high value opportunities.
  • Manage and orchestrate all customer opportunities and activities, utilizing the appropriate resources to win.
  • Research, qualify, and prioritize all incoming leads including form fills, trade shows, and trade association lists.
  • Utilize outreach methods, including but not limited to cold calling, outreach emails, trade shows, etc. to acquire new customers and grow the business.
  • Qualify leads and convert sales through the eCommerce channel. Work to develop deals from acquisition through to full close. Increase customer purchase frequency, average order value, and customer satisfaction metrics.
  • Build and streamline effective processes for effective customer outreach for the purposes of acquiring new business as the business scales.
  • Produce and present regular reporting metrics.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders (sales, marketing, product, technology, operations, etc.) regarding ways to increase net new revenue through numerous outreach channels.
  • Develop and share insights with the team and contribute holistically to shaping the strategy and building of the business; Continually shape and evolve strategy and priorities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Position Requirements

  • Bachelors is required.
  • Four (4) years of eCommerce-based business development or sales experience is required. Experience in food and beverage preferred
  • Strong level of influence and negotiation skills are required.
  • Effective communication with various types of stakeholder audiences is required. Strong communication, both verbal and written, and persuasion skills are required.
  • Ability to partner and operate within heavily matrixed and global environments is required.
  • Ability to work alone on a broad variety of projects with multiple competing demands is required.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Must be a problem solver and handle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proven ability to exercise effective judgement, sensitivity and creativity to changing needs and situations is required.
  • High level of integrity and trust with strong ethics/values are required.
  • Individual should have a proven track record of being action oriented with an ability to make timely decisions and act confidently with ambiguity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required.
