Qualifications
Any combination equivalent to: a master’s degree in special education, psychology, counseling or a related field.
Experience in administering and interpreting educational assessments (preferred but not required.)
Experience working with children in a school setting.
Position Summary
Conduct assessments of students who have been referred for special education and related services, including the administration of standardized assessments, criterion-related assessments, behavior observations and assessments of academic processing.
Collaborate with gifted minds teachers, school psychologists and related service providers in the completion of required three year assessments of students with identified needs for special education and related services.

Performance Responsibilities
Conduct initial eligibility educational assessments including behavioral observations and social developmental history.
Assist school psychologists with referrals, gathering of information prior to referral ARCs (i.e., screening information, etc.)
Conduct academic assessments for eligibility determination.
Provide written analysis of assessment data and assist school psychologists in writing integrated reports.
Complete and maintain appropriate records and reports and make referrals as necessary.
Administer and interpret diagnostic instruments.
Collaborate with the special education team to create an appropriate IEP and BIP as needed.
Attend ARCs as needed.
Demonstrate effective positive interpersonal and communication skills, with students, families and staff.
Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth.
Demonstrate punctuality and regular attendance.
Maintain appropriate professional appearance.
Adhere to the appropriate code of ethics.
Perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee.
Knowledge And Abilities
Working knowledge of the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
Record keeping techniques.
Diagnostic and assessment procedures.
Operation of computer and technology ancillaries.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Laws, rules and statutory regulations related to assigned activities.
Policies and objectives of assigned program and activities.
Pedagogy and technical aspects of the field of specialty.
Prioritize and schedule work.
Determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines.
Work independently with little direction.
Meet schedules and timelines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights
