Development Manager

Our client is one of North America’s leading developers of light industrial real estate with over 25M sq.ft. developed and 10M+ sq.ft. in the pipeline. For the last 30 years, they have specialized in the development of “mid-bay” industrial buildings in both Canada and the Southwest USA. With their US operations based in Phoenix, they have grown to be one of the most active industrial developers in the Southwest...and expanding.

This Development Manager/Development Planner will work with the local Phoenix team on a new industrial development projects in Phoenix and other Hopewell markets (Las Vegas, Dallas, etc.). This position will collaborate with the project leasing, construction, and finance team to plan the scope and design of each project, develop an entitlement schedule and select a GC for projects. Position is based in Hopewell's office in Phoenix.

Key details:

• Work with team members and consultants on the "front end" to establish the development program for new developments.
• Establish targets and objectives in collaboration with the Executive team
• Manage the project development process including site and building design, planning approvals, coordination of development permits, drawings, and budget preparation
• Projects are mid-bay industrial buildings (typically 150,000 - 300,000 sq.ft.); single and multi-tenant
• Hire/oversee 3rd party General Contractors for all projects in the US markets
• Our client is very busy and their is plenty of growth potential

Ideal Candidate:

• 8+ years of experience with a focus on the due diligence and "front-end" of the development process... site planning, zoning and municipal coordination.
• Experience with the design and approval process
• Strong, hands-on project manager with good decision and problem-solving skills
• Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction, or similar is preferred
• Must have ability to travel to sites in the Southwest markets.

This role is ideal for someone with 8-10+ years of pre-con/development experience with a focus on the very front-end of the development process. Hopewell is a very active company and this is a crucial role that will assist with new development projects in multiple markets in the Southwest and potentially elsewhere.
