Desktop Support Engineer

I'm currently working with a prestigious Hedge Fund specializing in high-frequency trading and market liquidity solutions. They are looking to add a Desktop Support Engineer. The candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing their IT infrastructure to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities

• Support Desktop applications Microsoft Office, financial data applications (Bloomberg, Reuters), and support IP telephones/Video conferencing equipment
• Liaison with technology teams network engineers, cyber security, and Quantitative Analytics.
• Support all aspects of remote access technology laptop computers, cable modems, and wireless access points.
• Resolve common remote access problems, such as account lockouts, troubleshooting VPN/MFA connections, and Citrix remote desktop/application challenges.
• Logging incidents and requests in an ITIL-based ticket management system and ability to effectively prioritize and provide a point of escalation to other team members.
• Setup and configure new IT equipment, including imaging and setup of new desktops/laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
• Provide local hands-on support for video conferencing events and perform regular system health checks.
• Troubleshoot any issues with image builds within SCCM with other team members.
• Participate in an On-Call Rota, roughly 1 week in every 6.
• Scripting (Python, Bash, Powershell)

Qualifications

• Background of Windows Workstations and Mobile Devices
• BA/BS degree
• At least 2 years of relevant experience providing support in a professional IT environment
• Strong Knowledge of Office 365 (Exchange, Azure, Sharepoint, Teams)
• Computer hardware experience is preferred
• Analytical and problem-solving skills are a must as well as the ability to work well independently
• Handling daily support tickets which can range from Tier 1 to Tier 2 support requirements.
• Basic Linux administration is a plus
