About The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated, multi-disciplinary Designer to join our growing Design and Visuals team. This role will report to the Editorial Design Manager and will contribute to our award-winning journalism.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate a passion for visual journalism, have strong communication skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, a meticulous attention to detail and an understanding and familiarity of sports. Additionally, the candidate must be able to work Tuesday-Saturday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET (2 p.m. to 10 p.m. CT or 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. PT).
This role will be remote for candidates based in the United States or Canada only.

Responsibilities
- This role will work closely with the editorial team to enhance articles, social media, newsletters and audio experiences with custom artwork and templates
- Daily-basis: Use photos, type and vector elements to create bespoke hero images for stories and social posts
- Monthly-basis: Maintain and audit a library of editorial and social templates, creating new templates when needed.
- Project-basis: Commission freelance illustrators to create original artwork for podcasts
- 1-4 years design experience in a newsroom, agency or other relevant industry
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, etc.)
- Ability to manage your time across several workstreams
- Data visualization and/or motion design skills are a plus
