POSITION SUMMARY

The Design Manager is an integral role within the Marketing and Communications team at Britt. This role is responsible for developing the creative vision and design aesthetic for Britt Music & Arts Festival alongside executing graphic design deliverables. Responsibilities include conceiving, developing and designing clear and visually appealing materials (both print and digital) that accurately communicate and elevate the Britt brand. The Design Manager possesses incredible attention to detail, has the ability to track multiple projects through all stages of design, creation, and delivery, and can manage incredibly fast turnaround times. This is a fast-paced role with a lot of responsibility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Execute and manage graphic design needs (both print and digital) including, but not limited to, brochures, postcards, advertisements (both print and digital), program books, posters, signage, etc
  • Work with artist management to create all artist-specific assets for concerts
  • Design/build emails and email campaigns for all aspects of the Britt brand (marketing/sales, fundraising, events, etc)
  • Assist in updating content and graphics on the website
  • Gather all relevant information for bid processes and coordinate print bidding and contract approval.
  • Manage print delivery/pick-up and tracking
  • Assist in arranging for and participating in special projects, events, and receptions as directed.
  • Manage media and photography coverage during performances
  • Work with the Marketing Manager to create assets for social media and video
  • Other activities may include, but are not limited to, print distribution, managing print distribution volunteers, poster running, managing our print archives, and managing our office artwork.



QUALIFICATIONS & TRAITS

  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in graphic design and project management
  • Extensive knowledge of different file formats and sizing graphics for print and web
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Conceptual thinker with a strong visual sense and wide range of design capabilities including a solid background in print, typography, composition, color theory, layout, and web design experience
  • Comfortable working with and managing outside vendors and printers. Experience with press checks and a solid understanding of the printing process. Direct mail marketing experience a plus
  • Demonstrates iron-clad organizational skills in order to juggle multiple projects at the same time. Successfully manages time, workflow and schedule in order to meet strict and sometimes aggressive deadlines
  • Resourceful, with the ability to problem solve and think creatively. Able to find multiple design solutions, especially under narrow parameters or strict budget constraints
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely, in written or oral format
  • Ability to accept and act on feedback given by managers
  • Self-starting and entrepreneurial, with superior creative and analytical skills
  • Experience working with culturally diverse workforces and constituencies, building and maintaining cooperative relationships with coworkers, managers and supervisors.
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the performing arts and the communities that engage with them


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This full-time exempt position that offers a starting salary in the range of $50-59,000 annually. Britt offers an excellent benefits package including 100% of health, dental, and vision insurance paid for employees beginning the first day of the month following employment; life insurance coverage of $25,000 comprising two separate policies; 16 annually accrued days of flexible time off plus extended sick leave; 11 paid holidays; and a paid week off every year between Christmas and New Year’s days. At three years of service, employees are eligible for 50% of family/dependent health insurance coverage and additional flexible time off days.

 

WORK SCHEDULE, ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is a full-time, exempt position. As an events-driven organization, Britt’s work schedule varies depending upon the activities of the season and the day. This position requires working many nights and weekends during the summer months, with flexibility from October-February.


This position has two primary work locations: the administrative office in downtown Medford, and the Britt hill park in Jacksonville, Oregon. We strive to offer a flexible work-from-home hybrid schedule, which generally allows employees to work from home two days per week.


During in-office days, this position requires frequent computer use and the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. This position requires the ability to carry items of up to 30 pounds, to sit or stand outdoors for long periods of time, and to travel up and down steep hills.
