Design Director - Kids

Seeking a Design Director – Kids to work for an amazing fashion company!

As the Design Director, you will be leading a Design organization developing seasonal product's that drives growth & adheres to our brand. You will report to the Vice President of Design and manage product development. This starts from the initial concept through production phases and assist in managing the design team.

Responsibilities:

Design/Product

• Oversee the product execution for each season
• Communicate with the offices overseas, executing accurate sampling
• Manage all account specific requirements
• Consistently shop marketplace
• Plan the line according to emerging trends, clients needs, and style plans
• Inspect samples and approve production
• Create tech packs and flat sketches

• Partner with Merchandiser ensuring assortment reflects sku plan and styling needs
• Work closely with technical team to guide and correct fit samples.
• Lead and manage a team of Associates, Assistant, and Designers in all aspects of performance, graphic art, and design development
• Responsible for all corrections, approvals, and changes to all product
• Inspire team to present new ideas

Requirements:

• Experience in Design and or Product Development 10+ years
• A minimum of five years managing a team from Sr. Designer to Design Assistant
• ­Strong background in working with merchandising on delivering on trend commercially successful designs.
• Strong knowledge of construction and fabric with a focus on all childrenswear categories
• Children’s apparel market knowledge/experience
• Exceptional design and product development skills
• Strong Merchandising sensibility
• Strong point of view and decision-making capabilities
• Strong illustrator and Photoshop
