The Opportunity: As a Deputy Organizing Director, you will build local grassroots teams that will then engage in direct voter contact, volunteer recruitment and volunteer retention. You will be responsible for executing a field program and managing a team of Regional Organizing Directors that work to elect Democrats up & down the ticket by building & maintaining the local volunteer infrastructure necessary for success in the November 2024 General Elections and beyond.
Job Responsibilities:
In consultation with the DPW Organizing Director, effectively manage, support & coach your Regional team (Regionals, Field Organizers, Fellows & Volunteers) in building local grassroots teams that will then engage in direct voter contact, volunteer recruitment and volunteer retention
Support our Engagement Organizing program by supporting the implementation of grassroots relational and digital organizing tactics, including managing and executing effective activities, such as friend banks, virtual voter contact events, organizing meetings, community events & phone banks
Create a strong progressive presence in communities within your assigned turf
Ensure regions are building the local volunteer infrastructure necessary for success in the Spring Elections, November General Elections, and beyond
Implement grassroots field tactics, including managing and executing effective activities, such as phone banks and canvasses
Meet or exceed metrics based goals for volunteer recruitment & retention as well as direct voter contact
Work with the Organizing Director to develop and maintain a plan to reach underserved populations across Wisconsin
Develop and maintain volunteer and staff-facing training including, but not limited to, webinars, conference calls, Statewide Leadership Conferences, as well as one-pagers, packages and programs as needed
Quickly & effectively address statewide volunteer needs including, but not limited to, outreach to volunteers who approach the DPW through our website and/or other methods, working with Neighborhood Action Teams, coaching county parties on recruitment & retention etc
Support for Neighborhood Action Team Actions, including but not limited to: votebuilder, research required for Rapid Response, script and report format creation, training and step-by-step instructions for actions etc
Assist Organizing Director with all event logistics, including surrogate and press needs
Work with the Organizing Director on all hiring of Regional Organizing Directors, Field and Engagement Organizers
Responsible for executing the 2024 statewide organizing and outreach programs across Wisconsin
Manage direct reports in all aspects of their work and support their success in the role by conducting relevant coaching conversations, providing and receiving feedback, and creating an inclusive and engaging team culture. More specific tasks could include but are not limited to:
Managing and reviewing time off requests
Hiring new team members
Having constructive conversations with team members on performance
Building rapport and trust within your team
Leading projects and delegating tasks through multiple layers
Be a representative of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin and our policies, including neutrality as directed
On year requirements include working outside of normal work hours; including canvassing and other election-preparation as necessary

Technical Proficiency - Proficiency in Votebuilder (VAN), Google Suite, and general computer competencies
Previous Organizing Experience - Demonstrated ability to manage a large and diverse organizing team to achieve high goals in high pressure, rapidly changing circumstances such as Get Out the Vote
