Purpose
Assist the administration in providing for the leadership, coordination and improvement of the department or grade level area. Communicate information to and seek input from individuals within the same subject/grade area. Act as an advocate for the interests and needs of the students in your assigned grade level/department with a focus on the academic success and overall well-being of students.

Assist the administration in providing for the leadership, coordination and improvement of the department or grade level area. Communicate information to and seek input from individuals within the same subject/grade area. Act as an advocate for the interests and needs of the students in your assigned grade level/department with a focus on the academic success and overall well-being of students.
General Responsibilities
- Participate in activities directed toward improving the subject area/grade level curriculum.
- Explore, and share with colleagues, state of the art practices for the subject area/grade level.
- Communicate information relating to the department area(s) within the specific subject areas assigned.
- Provide guidance, support, and resources to teachers within the department/grade level to improve instructional methods and student outcomes.
- Conduct subject/grade area meetings which include agenda preparation, shared with colleagues and administrators in advance.
- Attend Curriculum Collaboration Meetings as the representative for the department.
- Attend and participate in collaborative discussions focused on improving the subject/grade area
- Assist in the distribution of, and staff development associated with, new curriculum, including planned course materials, student and teacher resources, and assessment guidelines.
- Assist in interviewing prospective new teachers, when requested
- Provide feedback to subject/grade area colleagues for the purpose of monitoring curriculum and improving instruction.
- Collaborate with administration on the annual department budget in accordance with guidelines provided by the building principal.
- Work with administration to coordinate volunteer initiatives and parental contributions, ensuring seamless adherence to regulatory standards and safety protocols.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Administration.
- Five years satisfactory experience within the school district
- Valid Level II Teaching Certificate
- Knowledge of the curriculum in the subject/grade area
- Other education/experience as accepted by the school board and administration
