Business Overview:The Corporate Debt Capital Markets team, part of BNP Paribas’ Global Capital Markets business, is seeking an Associate to support strong continued growth of the BNPP DCM franchise. Corporate Debt Capital Markets (“Corp DCM”) primary objective is to deliver capital markets financing solutions to North American Corporate clients, originating mandates for the Global Capital Markets business. The scope of the Corp Debt Capital Markets business includes execution of debt offerings across products (senior bonds, capital securities, liability management), currencies and industry sectors across the US and Canada. The Corp DCM team is looking for a driven and highly motivated, team player with excellent communication, analytical and technical skills with related or transferable experience. The associate role is responsible for overseeing execution of internal and external projects and activities including transaction coordination, client marketing and conference engagements, offering and client support memorandums, transaction and pitch logs, etc . The coverage territory is the United States, while there may be some connectivity with Canada.

    • The DCM Associate will be exposed to a broad range of capital structure and market analysis. The Associate will also have access to all senior managers of the team with full visibility of the team’s span of business activities. The role will be a closely mentored apprenticeship with the objective of developing into a well-rounded team contributor over the long term.

    • Assist in pitching, structuring/analyzing and execution of DCM mandates
    • Support the team in drafting and preparing pitch books, marketing materials and investor presentations
    • Coordinate with internal and external parties for the DCM process (internal management, general counsel, compliance, risk management, underwriters, and rating agencies)
    • Build financial models to help analyze and interpret the impact of various debt funding strategies while working in the context of the broader corporate model
    • Develop financial models, valuation assessments and transaction/company comparables. Prepare documents for the relevant committees (FICC, Credit etc.) for approval of mandates
    • Analyze detailed corporate and financial information, assist in conducting due diligence processes
    • Prepare weekly market updates / tombstones / deal tracking / credentials
    • Regulatory and compliance tasks (KYC, pitch book logs etc.)
    • Other ad hoc projects as determined by the needs of the desk
Responsibilities

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • BS/BA in business, finance, accounting, economics or similar technical field
  • 1-2 years working experience in investment banking / DCM;.
  • Proficiency in MS Office: Excel and PowerPoint in particular
  • Excellent inter-personal skills: Ability to engage in concise, effective discussions
  • Ability to assimilate new information quickly and excellent conceptual analytical skills
  • Ability to work on multiple processes at same time utilizing effective time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and gather information quickly
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of financial markets
  • Basic understanding of credit and company capital structures
  • Basic understanding of risk management, regulatory concerns and other levers integral to closing of a transaction

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $150,000 to $200,000 annually. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business line, and geographic/office location.
