Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, the Dean of Student Success and Retention provides vision and leadership in establishing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive services and resources that foster and promote student success, assessment, engagement, persistence, retention, and placement.
Duties And Responsibilities
Master's degree in a related discipline, plus five (5) years of progressively responsible related work experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
Five (5) years of progressive experience in managing college academic success departments and developing retention and student intervention/engagement initiatives is preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory and administrative experience in higher education preferred; must have demonstrated leadership and communication skills.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, the Dean of Student Success and Retention provides vision and leadership in establishing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive services and resources that foster and promote student success, assessment, engagement, persistence, retention, and placement.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Supervises, manages, and assesses the programs and services of the Student Success Department, including tutoring, assessment, coaching, counseling, career services, disability services, College Skills courses, library/learning resources, student engagement, and new student orientation.
- Leads the development of campus-wide student retention, engagement, and assessment plans and initiatives in collaboration with faculty, staff, and administrators. Provides oversight, support, and resources for the implementation and assessment of the College’s student retention and engagement efforts.
- Designs, develops, and delivers presentations and/or training for faculty, staff, and student leaders that equip them to support and promote student success and student engagement. Collaborates with other departments to acclimate new faculty and staff to the student success culture and initiatives of the College.
- Leverages technology solutions that support student success, assessment, persistence, and retention and enable effective collection and management of related data. Ensures appropriate levels of technology access and training for users for implementation and reporting.
- Manages personnel and resources effectively, including supervision of faculty teaching College Skills courses. Clearly communicates expectations to supervised employees and provides channels for open communication. Ensures that assigned budgets, including selected grants, are managed appropriately in compliance with policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
- Maintains an understanding of current research and practices that impact higher education and student success. Engages in professional development activities and participates in peer groups and professional associations as appropriate.
- Participates in orientations, workshops, college information sessions, and other related events as assigned. Participates in campus activities, serves on College committees, and performs other duties as assigned.
