The Dean of Students collaborates closely with the Principal, Vice Principals, faculty, parents, students, and Parish community. Acts as primary advisor to the Principal, shares responsibility for the daily running of the school. The Dean of Students must be a visionary leader able to assist in academic supervision, strategic planning, student discipline, and proactive communication.
Qualifications
Be a practicing Catholic in good standing
Hold a New Jersey Principal certification or equivalent
Hold a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership or a related field
Demonstrate a commitment to the ministry of the Catholic education
Possess prior, successful teaching and administrative experience, preferably in a Catholic school
Demonstrate skills needed to work with teachers who focus on continually improving student learning
Display knowledge of curriculum and instruction and have experience in curriculum development
Have experience supervising student discipline
Demonstrate strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and technological proficiency
Possess the ability to work collaboratively with others in a parish-based school community
Essential Functions
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
Foster a Catholic learning environment
Assist in the formulation of policies, organizational plans, goals and objectives in order to develop and maintain an educationally effective school of excellence
Address any excessive absences and/or tardiness
Supervise arrival and dismissal procedures
Ensure all students are adhering to the dress code and honor the student code of conduct.
Assist in maintaining student discipline and overall student achievement.
Work in conjunction with the Principal in scheduling and supervising all school activities and special events, inclusive of those which may occur in the evening or on weekends.
Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Principal
