A vacancy exists for a Dean of Students to work within the Office of Student Services at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. The Dean of Students supports students ages 5-13 years, primarily supporting the Intensive Emotional Support program and classrooms.
Qualifications
Valid PA Certification in Special Education PK-12 required
Minimum of five (5) years teacher experience in a school setting.
Background in Emotional Support and/or Behavioral Training preferred.
Ability to work as a member of a team. Must be courteous and able to deal effectively with people, cooperative, congenial, and self-oriented.
Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions.
Ability to follow written and verbal directions, ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision, ability to read, write, and do simple computation.
Ability to operate office equipment, use computer technology efficiently, be a proficient typist, and know how to format business correspondence/reports.
Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI.
Duties And Responsibilities
Work directly with staff and students in the development and maintenance of programs to promote the safe and orderly school environment.
Promote and foster a positive, safe, and therapeutic environment
Support the principal in the ongoing development of the School-wide PBIS framework and restorative practices for students, including communication to stakeholders and documentation
Attend and oversee weekly behavior data meetings with case managers, school social worker and behaviorists
Attend IEP meetings and support teachers in the development of student IEPs
Communicate with families and staff to support student growth.
Provide guidance to staff on proactive verbal de-escalation strategies and supports
Serve on committees within the school: Safety committee, PBIS committee
Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Administrator(s)

This position is located at the MCIU's Early Learning Academy located at 1605 W. Main St. Norristown, PA 19401.
Placement on salary schedule based on experience and/or education beyond the Master’s Degree.
