About You And The Role
Best Practice Medicine's (BPM) distinguished team of clinical experiential educators is seeking a one-of-a-kind leader to join our nearly decade-long track record of changing the world of healthcare education. The Experiential Education Department at BPM is proven to improve outcomes, increase team performance, reduce errors, and identify risk across nearly all specialties and subspecialties of healthcare.
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
Occasional after hours and weekends possible
Travel required as necessary
What You Will Do
Every day you will get to work with, manage and lead like-minded healthcare professionals, highly trained in experiential education, the craft of life-taught adult education, and working toward common goals. As the department's General Manager, you will be empowered, educated, and resourced to grow this specialized, nationally recognized team for the simple purpose of improving and saving lives through experiential-based education. You oversee the development and execution of various educational programs for current and future healthcare professionals. Your near peers, the General Managers of the Travel Paramedic and Emergency Response departments, will be there to support and encourage you in managing your department. In return, they will look to you for counsel and assistance in the leadership and management of their departments. As a key leader in the organization, you will regularly work closely with the executive team to guide strategy, innovation, and the execution of the organization's vision. Administrative teams will look to you to guide your assigned subject matter expert liaisons, tasked internally to support the administrative needs of the department.
Core Responsibilities
- The essential responsibilities that a successful Dean must demonstrate regularly to achieve the impact, goals and vision of the company.
- Leadership and Management of the Department
- Thru actions, behavior, and bearing, regularly demonstrates the five practices of leadership and five practices of management for the creating and sustaining a highly accountable department and team.
- Strategy and Development
- Assists in and maintains a deep level of understanding of company vision, goals, and strategies. Leads and manages departmental staff and administrative liaisons in the creation and execution of strategy to achieve both company and departmental vision, goals and strategy.
- Departmental Profit and Loss
- Manages daily, weekly, quarterly, and yearly the expenses, profit, and growth of the department. Proposes and manages approved budgets for the maximum benefit of the patients we serve, our team, and the department.
- Risk Management
- Responsible for the identification and mitigation of departmental risk. Participates in organizational-wide risk management and assists all team members in safe and operations.
- Multidisciplinary Generalist
- Responsible for maintaining generalist-level knowledge of a majority of departmental seats. Capable of periodically performing tasks of reports and assisting liaisons in the execution of critical tasks.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as healthcare or education
- At least five years of experience in medical education or related field
- 3-5 years of operations experience (e.g., logistics, scheduling, staff management, budgeting, etc.)
- Nationally recognized thought leader and expert in the fields of experiential education, healthcare, and simulation-based education.
- At least 15 years of experience in an administrative strategic management position with an operating budget of greater than $5M
- Proven scaling experience of at least 5X growth of a department or team
- Nationally recognized thought leader and expert in the fields of experiential education and healthcare
- Proven history of emergency medicine/simulation medicine course development, management, implementation, and instruction
- Master's degree in healthcare, education, or a related field
- Ability to read, analyze, and act on financial reports such as profit and loss (P&L) and budget
- Experience with budget management and cost-effective program development
- Ability to think strategically and develop complex and innovative solutions
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Transformative leadership style
- Must be able to carry and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to speak clearly in small group settings
- This position will require sitting for long periods of time, walking, standing, and bending, as well as using fine motor skills, such as finger dexterity for typing
- This position could be exposed to loud noises, frequent phone conversations, and requires average to above average visual acuity and hearing
- The majority of this role will be spent indoors or in other climate-controlled environments.
- Must be able to travel to other locations as needed throughout the United States.
About Best Practice Medicine

- Operate the world's largest and only accredited mobile high fidelity simulation team.
- Educate and train EMS providers, newbies, and veterans.
- Provide novel EMS based clinical staffing solutions in austere environments.
Purpose
Guarantee the health and safety of clinicians and their patients in time-sensitive decisions, especially high risk, low frequency, non-discretionary time emergencies.
